The AWS Startup Go-to-Market Strategy team is looking for a Strategic Engagement BDM to join our ranks and help get, grow, and keep the top startups in the world on AWS.

This role will collaborate with business development, solutions architects, and field sales counterparts to identify, accelerate, and win sales and business development opportunities with top startup customers and prospects.

The responsibilities for this hybrid sales / business development role include direct sales and account management engagement with early-stage startups to assist with service adoption and cost / architecture optimization needs, and execution of business development activities designed to help AWS' startup customers grow their own businesses.

Ideal candidates will be data-driven and results-oriented.


Sales-oriented Responsibilities

  • Serve as an Account Manager to high potential early-stage startup customers affiliated with AWS' top Accelerator and Incubator partners.
  • Act as an escalation point for field sales teams managing startup customers requiring white glove support.
  • Identify high potential startups running on competing platforms, develop and execute on migration strategies in partnership with field sales teams.
  • Business Development-oriented Responsibilities

  • Ensure all high potential startups have full awareness of and access to the resources that the AWS Startup Business Development team and Amazon offer (platform, programs, people).
  • Identify and engage top startups in Go-To-Market and other partnership opportunities.
  • Increase AWS affinity and drive AWS adoption via engagement in one-to-many startup / founder ecosystem events in the field (AWS-led and 3rd-party, large-scale and intimate).
  • 3+ years of experience within sales leadership, business development, product management or technical sales experience within a technology startup or enterprise.
  • Familiarity and experience working within the startup ecosystem.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Degree required.
  • Prior experience helping advance customers' business objectives beyond just selling them products or services
  • Previous cloud sales knowledge
  • Strong professional writing skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, be creative, and take initiative
  • Self-reliant, adaptable, decisive, and professional
  • Able to function in a team environment
