Purpose

Embarking on a major IT Transformation project to drive change throughout our businesses, we’re looking for an IOT Applications Consultant to contribute to the development and realisation of our IT strategy.

As a senior member of multiple project teams on UK IT projects, you will make Application design decisions that satisfy both local and Global requirements, ensuring that the Applications Analysts are familiar with the design decisions.

  • Creating and maintain the models, templates and frameworks that will be used by the rest of the team in the implementation of the business requirements;
  • whilst being responsible for and working within the framework of UK IT applications which includes, Data Analysis solutions, Customer Service Digital solutions and other Emerging Digital technologies.

    Responsibilities

  • Development of key elements of the business IT Strategy. Ensuring that the all projects are consistent with Strategy and adhere to the Iberdrola Global model and Architecture direction.
  • Providing clear application design direction to Delivery Teams. Improving the knowledge of Applications Analysts through mentoring, workshops and other skill transfer methods.
  • Early engagement on large projects and programmes; Taking strategic direction from Solutions Architect and defining detailed Application Solutions for the business.
  • Assisting business in early scope definition, feasibility analysis and business case development.
  • Responsible for decomposition of large projects into discrete areas of application work packages.
  • Responsible for supporting IT Strategy implementation through Application Design Roadmaps, upgrades etc
  • Accountable for ensuring the delivered solution meets business requirements.
  • To develop testing strategy for larger projects where long end-to-end business threads need to be tested spanning multiple underlying integrated systems.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Iberdrola’s organisation, culture, people, strategy and operating models and implications for IT projects.
  • Experience in design, delivery and evaluation of IT requirements and development of appropriate Global and Local solutions working with Solution Architecture Teams.
  • Proven ability to apply knowledge of businesses and sector in order to ensure IT development projects are fit for purpose and support business goals / strategy.
  • Responsible for investigating new Application solutions and working with External vendors to identify application technologies that meet the business goals / strategy.
  • Ensuring that application solution knowledge is kept up to date in selected areas of responsibility.
  • Validation of all financial cost assumptions regarding the application solution. Responsible at a project level for alignment of projects with core IT strategy.
  • Skills & Requirements

  • Degree education in Computer Science or related STEM discipline
  • Substantial Java background required. Must have strong core java skills (expert in designing and architecting Java / J2EE based applications) and Spring Framework.
  • Knowledge of other stacks like .Net, Python, PHP, Rails, or NodeJS is definite a plus.
  • Deep expertise and hands on experience with Web Applications UI and programming languages with skills in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, JQuery and API's.
  • Knowledge of advanced JS Frameworks such as React, AngularJS, Backbone, Amber, etc. is desired.
  • Exposure to one or more of the following application servers Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic and WebSphere.
  • Extensive knowledge of Data structures.
  • Experience with JSON and RESTful web services is preferred. Knowledge of SOAP and Restful API service design and implementation.
  • Familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases such as MySQL, Oracle, DB2, PostgreSQL, HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.).
  • Exposure with source control tools (e.g. Subversion, GIT).
  • Understanding and experience in deploying containerised applications using Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry or equivalent technologies
  • Should have experience in HW, Security and Network (communication protocols).
  • Experienced People Manager
  • To be successful in a role you will need to demonstrate as minimum’ :

  • Bachelor’s Degree. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, equivalent industry experience may be considered.
  • Extensive related work experience.
  • Evidence of progressive experience in software engineering / enterprise architecture / technology leadership across multiple products, systems and / or platforms.
  • Substantial experience working in Application solutions design delivering IT solutions.
  • Extensive experience in Enterprise applications, database, distributed computing, virtualization and / or application technology.
  • Experience in delivering industrial platforms or horizontal software middleware.
  • Knowledge of technologies and common Packaged Platform / Systems.
