We are looking for a highly skilled and dynamic Band 7 Physiotherapist to provide senior clinical and operational leadership alongside other Physiotherapists in our outpatient based Respiratory Centre at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS).
ABOUT THE TEAM
You will be part of a large Therapy services department consisting of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy support staff.
This role also involves working closely with our multi-professional HMV and respiratory teams and is supported by a Consultant Physiotherapist in Respiratory Medicine.
The Respiratory centre is an award winning service which provides a hub for all respiratory outpatients and is staffed by a multiprofessional team covering both local and regional respiratory services.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Your clinical remit would involve the treatment of outpatients attending the respiratory centre including patients with a variety of medical conditions including bronchiectasis, asthma, COPD, cough assessments, breathing pattern disorders and respiratory failure.
This role is an ideal opportunity for an individual who is keen to develop their specialist respiratory skills and therefore experience with NIV and respiratory patients is desirable.
The post holder will be expected to assist with strategic development of the Therapy service for UHS. This permanent post offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to develop clinical and managerial skills within Respiratory physiotherapy and oversee the development of others.
The postholder will be expected to support the therapy, nursing and medical staff with complex patients requiring HMV in both the outpatient clinics and on the acute inpatient wards.
The post holder will be expected to engage in research, as well as regular clinical audits, and maintain up to date skills and knowledge in order to implement evidence based practice.
The role will require supervising undergraduate students, as well as providing specialist advice to colleagues.
The successful applicant would be expected to work at weekends within all fields of Medicine and be rostered on the Physiotherapy Respiratory On-call and twilight rota, working across the acute wards.
