Purpose of the Role

The role as Senior Technician is to support the team in completing projects by performing a range of routine microbiological analysis and report work in accordance with the quality standards.

This role focuses on the analysis of products using techniques such as those found in the pharmacopoeias. In addition, this role supports the laboratory organization by stock maintenance, sample management and the quality / GMP system by media quality control, calibration activities, instrument maintenance, and raw data filing.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of routine analysis using, but not limited to, pharmacopoeial methods under supervision of a senior member of staff.
  • To perform work following validation protocols.
  • Operate basic lab equipment as required.
  • Be proficient in the use of generic and specific software packages required for the role : Laboratory’s LIMS system, Q-Pulse.
  • Perform lab admin and housekeeping duties as required.
  • Efficient and reliable laboratory consumable’s stock maintenance.
  • Media quality control, calibration activities, instrument maintenance, and raw data filing.
  • Assist with the documentation of SOPs for simple equipment and tests and generation of Risk Assessments and COSHH.
  • Candidate Requirements

  • Educated to Degree in a Biological field or equivalent relevant experience in a laboratory.
  • Scientific understanding and ability to conduct microbiological analysis in relevant area under supervision.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and an ability to follow written instructions.
  • Well organized and capable of working on multiple activities concurrently.
  • Computer literate in standard MS office applications.
  • English fluency (written and spoken).
