Research Assistant in chronic pain at the School of Pharmacy, University of Reading, UK. Starting 1st January 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter contract length one year fixed term.

We are seeking a candidate to join our group as a part of the work funded by the grant A new molecular approach to reduce chemotherapy-induced pain awarded by Rosetrees Trust.

The project aims to provide a better understanding of the mechanisms that underlie Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN), an increasingly common neuropathic and pain syndrome affecting up to 80% of patient during anti-cancer treatment.

Research in the Maiarú lab focusses on the understanding of the molecular biology of pain states. Currently, the group is carrying out exciting new research on the involvement of cellular mechanisms in the pathogenesis of Chemotherapy-Induced Pain.

You will have :

  • Molecular biology skills
  • Laboratory experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Master in Pharmacology, Biochemistry or other relevant Biomedical Life Sciences
  • A good honours degree in relevant subject
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to high quality research
