Business : HSS New or Existing Role? Existing Grade : GCB5 Role Purpose

  • This role is to perform duties as a Senior Business Analyst within the Broker Outsourcing Design Build & Support team in HSBC Securities Services (HSS)
  • The role as Senior Business Analyst is required to help define the scope of Industry, Regulatory and Client driven change across Middle Office, Settlements and Asset Services functions.
  • A key part of the role will be to deliver the business and functional requirements for prioritised changes and manage the change to completion, including holding client workshops and walkthroughs, working with Technology counterparts (including vendors) to ensure development and QA is completed, and coordination of UAT and demos with our clients.

  • This role will work closely with the other teams within the Broker Outsourcing organisation including the Product Team to define appropriate solutions for business problems, the Control team to validate the operational effectiveness of any solutions, the Operational Design & Improvement teams to ensure user impacts are thought through and the IT teams across multiple functions to discuss technical feasibility of solutions.
  • The role must work collaboratively with regional and global change managers (front to back) to ensure successful delivery of requirements to enable operational or technical changes to be completed as part of any implementation.

  • Perform business analysis to elicit requirements and create documentation such as Business Requirements Documents, Functional Requirements Documents and Solution Documents for Mandatory Change (e.
  • g. Industry, Regulatory, Audit) and non-Mandatory Change (e.g. product enhancements or client change requests)

  • Lead or participate in opportunity workshops with existing or potential new clients to capture their current business and technical models and contribute to proposal documents articulating benefits of Broker Outsourcing to facilitate capturing of new business
  • Lead or participate in multiple project streams by completing and updating project documentation; managing project scope;
  • adjusting schedules when necessary; determining daily priorities; capturing and assessing delivery risk; ensuring efficient and on-

    time delivery of project tasks and milestones; following proper escalation paths; and managing customer and supplier relationships

  • Manage discussions with internal teams such as the Broker Outsourcing Product, Operational Design & Improvement, Control and IT teams as well as vendor teams where required to ensure changes are appropriately managed and supported throughout the lifecycle
  • Identify, create and facilitate process design changes by conducting business and systems process analysis and design at a complex level;

    engineering and recommending elimination; integrating new systems and processes with existing ones; and partnering with internal and external customers to ensure systems provided meet the long-

  • Provide and support the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders such as Product, Control and Operational Design & Improvement teams;
  • identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results;
  • recognising and capitalising on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organisational changes and new responsibilities

  • Develop and execute test plans to ensure business solutions are appropriately quality checked before rolling out to clients.

  • Understand and negotiate needs and expectations of multiple stakeholders
  • Develop close and effective working relationships with Broker Outsourcing Product, Control, Operational Design & Improvement teams globally.

  • Work collaboratively with Business Analysts, Process and Business Consultants, delivery partners and subject matter experts in gathering, translating and clarifying requirements and defining design options
  • Teamwork with other Design Build & Support team members and peers by collaborating with others; articulating ideas and viewpoints to peers and others;
  • driving the resolution of issues; and holding self and team members accountable for results

  • Collaborate closely with Technology counterparts and software vendors to implement the requirements, provide necessary guidance during QA process

  • Ensure that all changes are delivered to the highest standards of quality including signed off documentation, application of quality assurance process and effective client communication to ensure business readiness is completed.

  • Observation of InternalControls

  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
  • Qualifications

    Strong written andverbal communication skills

    Bachelor degree and 5 years of practicalexperience in senior business analyst roles

    Experience ofworking with internal IT teams as well as external vendors for system changes

    Strong experienceand proven track record that can be demonstrated in delivering complex businessand IT system related changes and documenting business / functionalrequirements

    Flexibility inapproach and methodology, and the ability to show initiative and respondquickly to changing situations

    Ability to manageambiguity and work to bring clarity to requirements by effectively engagingclients or partners

    Excellentdocumentation skills for functional specifications and / or presentations toclients

    Excellent clientfacing skills, with experience of managing client relationships either externalclients or in a Front Office environment

    Ability to work in ahigh-pressure environment and deliver results to a high standard, escalatingwhere required

    Excellent 360 degreecommunication skills and interpersonal skills

    Positive can do’attitude in all aspects of performing job duties

    Planning, timemanagement and resource management skills (for small projects)

    Sound understanding of IT infrastructure andsoftware development lifecycle in the context of system changes

    Ability to execute role with a high level ofautonomy while being mindful of when to seek guidance and approval

    Knowledge of Markets products and associatedpost trade operational processes with specificfunctional expertise in one of Middle Office, Settlements or Asset Services forCash Equities is highly desirable

  • Diploma in Business Analysis Optional
  • Lean Six Sigma / Green Belt Optional
  • Track record of change delivery using agile approaches is desirable
  • Under the Company'sinternal 'Back to Front' / ’Front to Back’ transfer policy this role may beclassed as High Risk. As a result, internal candidates may require enhancedapprovals and vetting checks if they are currently employed in a Front Officedepartment, or if they have worked in a Front Office department within the last5 years (please refer to the HR FIM definition for further guidance).

    Theenhanced approvals and vetting would need to be completed before the candidatewill be confirmed in the role.
