Jaguar Land Rover Design is a World Class organization responsible for delivering the current range of award-winning production and concept vehicles.

Jaguar Land Rover Design has responsibility for the creation and delivery of all visible parts on the exterior, interior and colour and materials of all Jaguar Land Rover vehicles.

The Design team is multi-disciplined, with Designers, Engineers, Clay and Alias Sculptors and the Surfacing team.

Designers are responsible for the creative processes at the earliest stage of a project, through to the co-ordination of feasible solutions, releases to tooling, and monitoring designs through to production.

Situated within or stunning design facility in Gaydon, Jaguar Land Rover design is at the forefront of automotive design with world-class facilities in a beautiful, modern environment.

Our studio environments encourage communication and collaboration so the ability to work well in a team is critical to any candidate applying for this role.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities :

The role of the Creative Interior Designer is highly creative, being involved in the creation of new designs and the development of solutions to design problems for the interiors of our future vehicles.

The solutions must meet strategic objectives set by and agreed with the Chief Designer and Studio Director and demonstrate an understanding of sustainable modern luxury.

The role requires a clear ability to visually and verbally communicate ideas and solutions. This requires the highest of skills in illustration, visual evaluation and aesthetic judgement of digital and clay surfaces.

The position requires a good level of practical engineering knowledge to negotiate and agree solutions with development engineers.

A key understanding of the brand and how that could evolve and manifest itself into future interior design is also important.

  • To contribute and assist in the development of strategic advanced concepts and production programmes.
  • Generating multiple propositions for future vehicles to a high professional standard
  • Working efficiently with designers and modellers on a daily basis
  • Regularly presenting to line manager and chief designer
  • Create new ideas and challenge conventional thinking in problem solving
  • Liaise cross-functionally to ensure two-way communication on project feasibility
  • Develop the virtual and physical design properties of their specific project, to the highest level of maturity and refinement
  • WHAT YOU’LL NEED : Essential :

    Essential :

  • Proficient illustration and visual evaluation skills to visually and verbally communicate ideas and solutions.
  • A clear understanding of aesthetic judgement of surface, surface juxtaposition and appearance
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Essential IT skill high level of Photoshop ability
  • Strong level of organisational skills
  • A good understanding of the brand portfolio and history
  • Desirable :

  • Strong IT skills, particularly with Design related systems, e.g. ALIAS / VRED / Power-Point
  • Strong understanding of surfacing requirements
  • Previous international experience of the automotive industry, including competitor and market awareness
  • Some experience or knowledge of all design roles, from concept generation to production ready design delivery
  • Interest in future UI / UX developments
  • A portfolio that demonstrates the ability to support the wider design team.
