This is an exciting opportunity for two Mental Health Liaison Nurse to deliver Interpersonal Psychotherapy Acute Crisis (IPT AC) as part of their roles offering mental health assessments to patients presenting to the Emergency Department (ED) and Acute Medical Unit (AMU) at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (RIE).
The postholders will have responsibility of carrying out mental health, bio-psychosocial assessments and risk assessments of patients attending the AMU and ED at the RIE and other areas of the hospital where patients are receiving medical treatment.
They will deliver high quality care in accordance with the values, skills and knowledge of the capability framework; carrying a small out-
patient caseload and being involved in the care planning of patients who attend the ED on a frequent basis.
The post holders will also deliver IPT AC and follow-up to specified patient groups as part of the Prospect Model IPT AC Test of Concept service allocated to the specialist service within Psychological Medicine at the RIE.
The post-holders time will be divided between carrying out assessments of patients who present in crisis and delivering the IPT AC intervention to those patients meeting criteria.
Postholders will have first level registered nurse qualification with experience in a range of clinical settings. It is essential that the postholders are trained in child protection, and vulnerable adults policy and guidelines.
Postholders should be educated to degree level or working towards this. They should also provide evidence of continual professional development.

The post-holder will receive line management from the lead IPT AC nurse (Band 7), and will work closely with the liaison psychiatry team as patients are often referred between the psychiatrists and the IPT AC service.
The service is 08.45-1600hrs Mon-Fri / 0900-1300 Sat / Sun Rotational basis.
The post holder will regularly liaise with the Prospect Model Service Development Team. The IPT AC test of concept service at the Department of Psychological Medicine is one strand of the Prospect Model Programme of IPT work.
Post holders along with the lead IPT AC nurse, will receive regular direct clinical supervision from the Prospect Model consultant clinical psychologist.
This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership / record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.
e. child and / or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
