Role description :

Our Geotechnical team is involved in some of the UK’s most high profile, complex and stimulating projects that are diverse and technically demanding.

We have an enviable reputation in the delivery of some of the UK’s and indeed the world’s most prestigious and challenging projects.

Our current client portfolio includes Highways England, Transport for London, Local Authorities, the Environment Agency, Canal & Rivers Trust, Water Companies, Network Rail and selected Civil Engineering Contractors for whom we undertake the planning, design and supervision of geotechnical engineering solutions for a variety of schemes including, managed motorways, harbours, ports, water treatment plants, reservoirs, rail electrification, station upgrades and structures in a wide range of geological conditions.

We are seeking a Principal Earthworks Materials Engineer to join our geotechnical team in London or Birmingham.

Role accountabilities :

The successful candidate will :

  • liaise with contractors in relation to material re-use classification and strategy as part of the contractors mass haul programme
  • Develop reporting that sets out the principles of the earthworks design to support the design of earthworks including the testing and verification requirements.
  • Manage project specifications and the update and modification of these to accommodate the results of field trials.
  • Be familiar with Highways England specificaitons and the produciton of the associated specification appendices.
  • Keep abreast of best practices and industry standards in relation to earthworks design and construction
  • Qualifications & Experience :

  • able to plan and manage tasks to time, budget and quality.
  • can communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels, across the project organisation
  • will have extensive experience in the design and implementation of earthworks for civil engineering projects
  • has experience of design and build contracts and assimilation of design and construction imperatives
  • will have a working knowledge of the specification for earthworks materials to the SHW
  • should be fully familiar with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc. as well as document management and data management systems (Sharepoint / ProjectWise or similar).
