Job Responsibilities
Annual Reporting : Undertake the year end statutory consolidation for the Professional business on an IFRS basis, preparing the consolidated statutory accounts for SCJ UK Finco Ltd and the five individual UK businesses, to meet all statutory reporting filing deadlines
External Audit : Act as the first point of contact for the external auditors before, during and after their field work.
To include, agreeing the timing of the audit, ensuring timely provision of information, explanation of consolidation adjustments, answering their audit queries and coordinating the audit work
Corporation Tax Returns : Prepare the statutory accounts corporation tax disclosures for all UK entities and work with the Group’s tax advisors on the preparation of the corporation tax computations.
To include a calculation of all tax adjustments needed to the statutory accounts and working with the relevant business units to ensure these entries are reflected in their books, answering queries on the draft tax computations, and ensuring final computations are submitted on time
Corporation Tax Payments : Undertake tax forecasts to enable the timely payment of tax payments on account
US GAAP Tax Entries : Prepare Tax provision workings and journal entries for all Professional UK entities using the Corptax software package and work with business units to ensure all entries are appropriately booked on a timely basis
Patent Box and R&D Claims : Undertake the annual Patent Box and Research and Development Tax claims, working with the Group’s tax advisors to undertake the relevant calculations such that they can be submitted in line with the tax computations
New Accounting Standards : Lead on any new IFRS accounting standards, ensuring any new policies are fully understood, that their impact is assessed and can be adhered to
Systems : Maintain and update the Annual Reporting packs used by business units to report their statutory results. Actively seek improvements in reporting systems and look to further utilize the SAP ERP system for reporting IFRS results
Tax Risk Register : Maintain a Tax Risk Register to identify and appropriately mitigate inherent risks. This will be used in support of the Annual Accounting Officer certificate to HMRC
Corporate Criminal Offence : Act as the point of contact and expert on the Corporate Criminal Office rules for the Professional Business, working with Tax advisors to ensure compliance with the Act
Transfer Pricing : Act as the first point of contact for the preparation of Transfer Pricing documentation, working with the wider SCJ Tax Department and Professional advisors on completing documentation
Previous Experience / Knowledge
Strong technical accounting and tax knowledge and a desire to keep up to date with changing financial rules and regulations
Experience of preparing consolidated IFRS accounts and leading on the Group audit
Experience of preparing corporation tax computations and the tax disclosures in statutory accounts
Previous experience of providing Business Partnering support
Strong Excel knowledge
Knowledge of best practice accounting procedures and
Qualification / Skills
ACCA / ACA qualified with a minimum of three years post qualification experience
Energetic, positive and determined
Position is based in Frimley with occasional travel to Derbyshire
