Job Description

We are looking for highly motivated and skilled applicants with an interest and experience in the field of Computational Design for Engineering to join our Bridges Team.

We are developing our digital approach across a range of projects and are looking to expand our capacity and capability in order to continue to push the boundaries of data-driven design.

Our goal is to further enhance our industry-leading reputation and specifically to develop tools and techniques in the field of automation for Bridge Design and Engineering.

Job Purpose :

Responsible for leading and setting direction of new computational design methodologies to enhance the design process and deliver adaptive solutions

Leading the delivery of computational aspects of projects in accordance with Management Systems to meet time, quality, budgetary targets

Key Accountabilities :

Lead teams integrate computational design processes to projects

Responsible for leading the research, development, documentation and delivery of computational methods and design solutions

Leading the development of computational design tools and libraries for spatial analytics and generative design

Execute and deliver repeatable analytics and design solutions.

Ability to lead others in the design / generatation of data visualization.

Collaborate with project teams on design and delivery workflows utilising multiple digital design technology and platforms

Lead on development of training programmes for staff to learn computational design software platforms, process and management

Review and champion marketing and case studies to demonstrate the value of computational design

Requirements

Knowledge & Experience :

  • Understanding and experience of some (or all) or the following techniques;
  • Parametric modelling
  • Generative design algorithms (including machine learning)
  • Digital Manufacturing (including 3D printing and CNC)
  • Simulation-driven design
  • Data analysis and visualisation
  • Have experience of some (or all) of the following techniques
  • Visual Programming (e.g. Grasshopper, Dynamo, node-RED)
  • Programming (e.g. C#, Python)
  • Web development (e.g. Javascript)
  • Database technologies
  • Discuss ideas and plan competently and with confidence
  • Effective personal and social skills
  • Key Qualifications :

    Masters degree in Architecture and / or Engineering, with a specialism in Computational Design
