Trainee Butcher - Slaughter Line
1d ago

Are you looking for a new career? You might not have thought about a slaughter job before, but actually being a slaughter person is a career choice that's alive and kicking because there's currently a national shortage of people with the right skills

Staffline is recruiting for a Trainee Butcher to work on the Slaughter Line at their industry-leading pork production factory in Norton, Malton.

Earn £9.02 per hour with added bonus schemes available if targets are achieved, so your hard work and commitment will be rewarded.

The shifts start at 7.30am and finish at around 5.30pm. You will work Monday to Friday, which will give you free weekends.

You'll be part of one big team and work together to do our part to feed the nation whilst making great friends along the way.

Your Time at Work

As a Trainee Butcher working on the Slaughter Line, you will work in a warm environment on a production line where a conveyor system moves pork along for you to butcher.

You will be trained to a level where you can work fast, efficiently and safely using knives to dress the carcass. This will also include training on knife cleaning and sharpening techniques.

You will be trained on how to hang the carcasses on gambrels on the conveyor line safely and how to guide the carcass down the line through the cleaning tunnels, singers and polishers, ensuring the carcass is clean, sterilised and ready to be processed.

You will be required to safely remove internal organs, excess fat and glands ready to be checked by a licenced vet and hygiene standard professional.

With lots of determination and training, you will get quicker and be able to work safely to meet the strict food standards specifications.

Our Perfect Worker

Our ideal Slaughter Line Butcher will demonstrate a willingness to learn a new skill and career within butchery.

As a Trainee, previous experience is not necessary, but you should be happy to work in a pork slaughter environment.

You will be an integral part of ensuring the animals are prepared with care to ensure a quality food product for our clients.

You will be required to lift and move carcasses around the warehouse, so repetitive heavy lifting is required.
