We are looking for a Senior Developer with good commercial experience, to work both as part of a team on larger projects, as well as being capable of taking full responsibility for individual projects, from initial brief to completion.

We are flexible on the location of this post, however travel to our Torquay office will be occasionally required.

About you :

Experience of working with a variety of programming languages, including PHP, HTML5, JavaScript (the team also use, among others, Wordpress, CSS, Bootstrap 4, JQuery and Opencart)

An understanding of the latest web trends and their role in a commercial environment

Ability to work well in a team, but also to independently own specific tasks / projects to completion

A commitment to continuous professional development to keep up to date with fast-changing trends

Experience of development methodologies (such as Agile and Waterfall)

Version control systems

A thorough understanding of the architecture of the web

Database understanding MySQL and MSSQL.

As well as the relevant experience, you should also have a relevant technical degree with modules on the core principles of programming and application design.

Alternatively, a degree equivalent that includes short courses on specific topics such as developing web applications in PHP and MySQL, and computer science, would be considered.

What you’ll be doing :

Discussing user requirements and proposed solutions with team lead

Running projects including interactions with other areas of the business

Implementing new designs

Using development tools to write and test code to develop solutions

Writing code in one or more programming or scripting languages, such as PHP or JavaScript

Planning and prototype new applications

Testing sites and applications in different browsers and environments

Documenting code, so other developers can understand and contribute to it

Fixing bugs in existing projects

Testing new features thoroughly to ensure they perform the correct task in all cases

Liaising with users and clients for full UAT as applicable.
