The role holder will be
responsible for but not limited to the following :
Championing Health and Safety by furnishing education, advice and guidance as required to all Line Managers.
Carrying out and completing risk assessments (Process, Workplace Transport, CoSHH, Manual Handling , PUWER etc)
Assisting sites / reviewing the standard of accident investigations
Ensuring Depots adopt appropriate Health and Safety targets and standards for their own areas of responsibility in the control of loss and operation of best safety practice
Developing and implementing all Health and Safety associated policies and procedures, amending and updating as required
Ensuring the Health and Safety policies and procedures are adopted by the business and its various operations as appropriate.
Attending Health and Safety Meetings
Developing and implementing plans to exert reasonable control over all risks throughout the Company and ensuring the concept of reasonable at all times reflects statutory requirements.
Delivering Health and Safety Training to all UK sites
Developing Health and Safety presentations.
Monitoring and auditing safety performance in regards to :
internal safety systems
industry benchmark standards UK
industry benchmark standards European
Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with appropriate representatives of the HSE / LA and any other appropriate external bodies.
This is to ensure that the Company and its commercial interests are represented in a professional manner
Assessing the competence of external contractors and maintaining the approved contractor listing.
Compiling written briefs to update the business on changes to legislation, codes of practice, industry best practice or other sources.
Assisting with the maintenance of ISO 45001 (OHSAS 18001)
Competence Requirements :
A minimum 5 years experience in a H&S Role
Previous experience of Health & Safety within a Warehousing or Transport environment is preferable.
Knowledge / experience of COMAH would be an advantage
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Computer literate with a good understanding of MS office applications
Able to work to tight deadlines and manage their own time effectively
Willing to travel extensively within the UK
Thorough understanding of current Health & Safety Legislation and its implementation within the workplace
Knowledge of ISO 45001 (OHSAS 18001)
NEBOSH diploma or equivalent
Member of IOSH, ideally CMIOSH (or working towards) and / or IIRSM
Shifts : Monday to Friday 8.30am - 17.00pm (hours flexible to meet the needs of the business).
