Reporting to your superiors, this position involves working in both the Audit and Business Services Accounts team, with the provision of appropriate training to obtain the relevant professional experience and becoming a qualified accountant.

The main purpose of the role is to perform independent statutory financial audits and the completion of accounts tasks as agreed at the planning stage of accounts preparation.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assisting with or leading on audits (depending on the size / complexity) both in but primarily out of the office using a computerised audit system
  • To supervise and assist junior team members both in house and off site
  • To review work of junior team members
  • Producing audit files for review
  • Preparation of draft documentation
  • Preparation of accounts for a variety of clients
  • Liaison with and dealing with basic client queries
  • Assists with drafting or pre audit letter and updated engagement letters for dispatch to client well in advanced of audit commitment.
  • Preparation of accounts for a variety of non complex clients.
  • Preparation of all draft documents including letter of representation and minutes
  • Highlights any deficiencies in client records provided or in the conduct of the client’s business which are material or a cause for concern and recommends action to client to improve matters.
  • To ensure necessary adjustments are made to accounts before they are finalised and that disclosure checklists are completed.
  • Delegate analysis work to more junior staff and monitor progress, including reviewing work once complete.
  • Travelling to client premises as required and to deal with clients in a professional manner either in person, telephone or by email.
  • To look after associated departmental administration.
  • To complete the ACA / ACCA qualification
  • Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Achieved A-C / 9-4 grades (including Maths and English) at GCSE
  • Achieved A-C grades at A Level or equivalent
  • Graduates will be considered for the role
  • Competent in Microsoft office, including Excel and Word
  • Ability to balance workload with the pressures of studying for a professional qualification
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as working as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure in able to meet time deadlines.
