Job Description

The Sr. Program Manager, Aviation Checkpoint Programs, reports directly to the SDI VP of Program Management. The Sr. Program Manager has authority and responsibility within the SDI organization to establish and manage a program team made up of personnel from SDI functional organizations (Executive team, Sales, Contract Management, Technology Engineering / Project and Product Management, Quality Assurance, ILS / Field Services, Operations / Manufacturing, and Finance / Accounting) to execute customer programs.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs as SDI primary day-to-day and overall Customer point of contact for execution of assigned Customer Aviation Checked Baggage contract(s).
  • Performs as direct interface for Customer personnel relative to execution of new and existing contracts / orders and management of any customer issues.

  • Leads internal matrixed program team to review / assess contract requirements, ensure complete contract compliance and on-time completion of all deliverables, and to coordinate and define program solutions as required.
  • Coordinate with Customer stakeholders on all equipment deliveries and deliverable submittals, equipment / deliverable acceptances, field deployments, equipment problem resolution, task scheduling, new resource requirements, training needs, and task clarification, as required.
  • Provide program control leadership to monitor contract technical, schedule and cost performance including risk identification and mitigation.
  • Proactively communicates risk and mitigation plans to SDI internal and customer stakeholders. Escalates problem issues to SDI stakeholder leadership if required to obtain resolution.

  • Provide Customer with updated status of program performance and issues via contract deliverable reporting, Program Management Reviews (PMRs), weekly or requested meetings, and responding to Customer requests.
  • Provide internal business performance tracking and reporting / forecasting for each assigned program including delivery status, contract issues, revenue, margin and cash flow, risks and opportunities, key actions / escalations to ensure business performance success.
  • Work closely with Sales, Proposal Management, and other organizations to identify, pursue and win new and / or follow-on business opportunities in aviation passenger checkpoint market sector.

    The Individual

  • A minimum of ten (10) years related experience in leading customer programs / projects on high technology equipment and / or service contracts.
  • Experience in leading programs on Federal customer contracts a plus. Customer Sales experience a plus. Experience managing DHS TSA programs a plus.

  • Experience in building, managing, and leading cross functional matrixed teams in a fast paced and challenging business environment.
  • Strong customer relationship skills and customer focus required including ability to maintain high customer satisfaction while also ensuring all SDI company goals and objectives are met.
  • Strong working knowledge of acquisition processes, proposal development, contract negotiations, and executing varied contract types
  • Demonstrated strong team building and collaboration abilities with effective leadership for this level of responsibility.
  • Must have effective communication, presentation, and analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Education : Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Business, Math or applicable field is required. A Master's Degree in applicable field is highly preferred.
  • Professional Experience : Combination of extensive professional experience, training and certification in Program Management required (PMP or equivalent)
