As part of this continued and ambitious growth, we are seeking a collaborative, motivated and talented Director of Environmental Planning.

This role will suit a candidate who relishes a diverse and stimulating workload, driving highly innovative solutions for clients, with experience in collaboration, leading the delivery of regeneration, development and infrastructure projects, and advising clients through the development lifecycle.

This is a national role, with the opportunity to be based in Bristol, Reading, Cambridge, Warrington or London. We can offer you a mix of home and office work which will help maintain a good work-life balance and effective team working.

Our broad-based growth means we are supporting projects across multiple sectors including major development (new communities, regeneration, employment, etc.

regulated water, energy and transport developments helping to secure and implement development consents. Our client-focused and result-driven approach mean that we benefit from significant repeat business but we also have an ambitious growth strategy that you will help us achieve.

We aim to create valued solutions for our clients and to become indispensable to their future plans.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a truly multi-disciplinary environment, that combines one of the UK’s leading planning practices with Stantec’s extensive environmental and technical expertise.

You will oversee a wide range of environmental and inter-disciplinary projects, and through your experience will provide exceptional technical oversight.

You will help drive forward our technical agenda in supporting our clients, in response to the climate emergency, the pursuit of net zero carbon outcomes and delivering social value.

An important part of your role will be to work collaboratively as part of our Environmental Consultancy Leadership team to identify and execute our continued plans for growth in terms of our capabilities and services.

About You

You will have strong environmental planning experience in the consultancy sector, with a track record of delivering environmental services across multiple sectors.

Your market insights and reputation, collaborative approach, and creative instincts will be some of your strengths. You will have demonstrable experience in work winning and securing new business opportunities, and developing trusted client relationships.

You will have experience in a blend of the following skills and expertise :

Different consenting regimes (Town and Country Planning, Planning Act, Hybrid Bill, etc.)

Digital EIA

SEA / EIA / Env Management

Bid Leadership

Team Management and Growth

Developing new services

Expert Witness

Qualified to degree level, you will also ideally be a Chartered You will be able to thrive through working collaboratively in a corporate organisation that is growing organically and acquisitively.

Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate competency and flexibility to meet the demands of the role. You will be supported by a collaborative leadership team and play a key role in the business, at a very exciting time for us.
