About the Role :
Your Co-op are looking for empathetic and compassionate people to join our Funeral-care team. As a Driver Bearer, you will work to ensure that the deceased and their families are treated with respect and dignity.

As a Driver Bearer, you will :
Undertake manual handling (after completion of required trained)
Carry out funeral bearing duties including shouldering
Ensure ceremonial vehicles are washed and valeted to a high standard and prepared with floral tributes
Drive the ceremonial vehicles to and from funerals at appropriate and safe speeds and drive in a sensible manner
Ensure vehicles are well maintained and clean at all times
Plan routes and timings to ensure timings are met
Assist in maintaining a clean and tidy funeral home.
Participate in weekend funerals as required.
Support the community by way of volunteering and charity events, also actively promote the business and membership within the local community.
About You :
To be a successful candidate for this role you will need :
A full UK Driving Licence
Flexibility to work during weekend funerals and potential on-call hours
To be comfortable with dealing with the deceased
Reasonable physical fitness to carry out manual handling
Presentable and tidy appearance at all times
Empathy and respect towards the deceased and their families
To act in a respectable and professional manner at all times
Resilience to deal with emotionally challenging situations
