What Is the Opportunity?

Manage an assigned allocation of large cross class renewal accounts assigned to the specialty sectors (Corporate & Transport).

Supported by Associate Underwriters and Client Management function. Assists the development underwriters with the profitable development of new & retention of renewal business within the Corporate Business sector.

Be the primary contact for regions producing and writing new business from their broker panels in accordance with UW guidelines.

Responsible for triaging new business opportunities and developing prospects, supporting or leading the technical underwriting of these risks (depending on the complexity).

Close interaction and collaboration on all Corporate & Transport risks with the team, National Underwriting Officers, Chief UW Officer, Head of Corporate & Transport and other critical stakeholders both in the UK and the US.

Delivering the Corporate client proposition to brokers and clients in accordance with Travelers standards.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate as an advisory / referral point to achieve responsible product development within the Corporate division to ensure it is consistent with profit, growth and retention strategies for the Product
  • Active Engagement in Key Case underwriting and new business
  • In conjunction with Regional and Branch Management, effectively mentor and coach development underwriting staff to ensure underwriting standards and profitability objectives are achieved for Product Development
  • Assist in the development and leveraging of broker / client relationships through a high level of visibility
  • Act as large case expert both internally and externally
  • Assist the Director Corporate to determine sector strategy
  • Encourage others to help achieve underwriting, sales, and production goals and understand and work towards strategic objectives
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues in Head Office, Risk Control, Claims, Actuarial, and as needed, any other parts of the organisation.
  • In exercising own underwriting authority, assure that policies and accounts are effectively underwritten, handled and documented in compliance with company and regulatory standards and requirements.
  • Develop and leverage broker / client relationships through a high level of visibility and using a disciplined sales management approach (e.
  • g., planning and follow-up for broker and prospective customer visits / meetings) in support of business objectives.

  • Demonstrate superior customer service standards (consistency, quick response, knowledge of products).
  • Customer interaction focusing on meeting customer expectations for response time and knowledge of products and business.
  • Work strategically and tactically with brokers to ensure they have an appropriate level of understanding of BI goals and objectives.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous experience of underwriting in Property and Casualty classes of business.
  • Significant experience directly managing / engaging with large UK Corporate Clients.
  • Licensing or Certificates

  • ACII preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge and ability required in respect of analytical thinking, judgment, decision making, communication and strong team work.
  • Demonstrates proven ability in respect of broker planning and engagement activities.
  • Demonstrates advanced ability in the areas of customer focus and positive broker interaction.
  • Demonstrates intermediate knowledge and ability in respect of Microsoft Office systems including Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Typically demonstrates advanced relationship management skills.
