System Architect

A vacancy has arisen for a skilled System Architect with the ability to design and develop the system required by geo-spatial projects and cloud-based solution using in-house or cloud infrastructure.

This role can be based in the UK Intelligence Newcastle or Guildford office requiring the applicant to be able to be security cleared to a UK SC level.

This role involves participating and contributing to the organisational capabilities, products and services portfolio design and development.

This position is essential for Airbus digital services and transformation with the role requiring speed, agility and flexibility along with the ability to travel in Europe and world-wide.

Main Tasks and Accountabilities

The main tasks and responsibilities will include :

  • Capture and analyse of stakeholder needs
  • Develop, analyse and stakeholder tracing, within the system requirements
  • Allocation of requirements
  • Augmentation of architectural principles (e.g. selection of methodologies, tools etc.)
  • Design and model operational concepts and to analyse simulation results
  • Design and model functionality and physical system architecture including interfaces and analysis of simulation results
  • Evaluate the feasibility of technical solutions with the Chief engineer or members of the team
  • Report progress, costs, schedule of activities under his responsibility
  • Assess risk and opportunities, continuously contribute to the project risk register
  • Support strategy for integration, verification / validation, transition to use
  • Contribute to design and development of logistic support solution / service management
  • Lead the technical architecture, integration and potential deployment of the solution and the related IT infrastructure
  • Ensure solution and operations reliability in liaison with service management team
  • Ability to understand the big picture and work closely with cloud architects, service managers and project manager as a team
  • INCOSE System Engineering CSEP certification or equivalent is desired.

    Required Skills / Experience

    We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience :

  • University Degree (Master’s degree would be desirable) in Information Technology or equivalent
  • Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) from conceptual through detailed design with knowledge and experience of common architecture framework (TOGAF, NAF, )
  • Experience and knowledge of IT security and a good understanding of security by design
  • Technical and business processes analysis and optimisation
  • Solid foundation on cloud computing including understanding of the cloud technology, cloud architecture and how to design, develop, and manage robust, secure, scalable, highly available, and dynamic solutions and services hosted in the cloud.
  • Implementations of cloud architecture, including performance measurement
  • Experience in AWS and RedHat Openshift technologies is highly desired.
  • Management and provision of the solution infrastructure including all aspect related to processing, storage, networking, high-availability, resilience, and backup.
  • Experience in integration framework, applications server and messaging systems
  • Experience in Service oriented (SOA) and micro-services architecture
  • Knowledge of Enterprise application integration and associated concepts
  • The ideal candidate should also serve as a Subject Matter Expert regarding System Engineering approach and ultimately build a strong System Architecture expertise within Airbus Intelligence UK.
