Main Purpose of Job :
Our client has an AWS estate containing a number of EC2 and RDS instances. As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the resiliency and efficiency of our AWS estate we are conducting a full review of our backup and restore process with a view to enhancing it over and above the current offering.
The successful candidate will possess a high degree of self-management, personal accountability, strong communication and technology acumen.
Continual knowledge transfer, training and mentoring of less knowledgeable staff is expected.

Our client is looking for an experienced, dynamic IT professional with a proven history of the design, build and support of the infrastructure for application developments running in AWS.
The ideal candidate will have experience of managing and automating backup and restore processes via standard AWS methods or third-
party applications. Understanding of High-Availability and Disaster recovery AWS based SQL workloads and knowledge of SQL server backups (2008 R2 onwards) also essential.
Previous experience in a financial services enterprise would be a nice-to-have but is not essential.
Resolve any problems that may arise as a result of new infrastructure builds. Work with the wider AWS team, Solution Architects and Database Administrators to identify the cause of an issue and recommend solutions.
Recommend improvements to processes and configurations in order to avoid problems recurring.

AWS is used for all business applications run in-house’ at SJP and is therefore key to most IT services provided to users.
