This is an exciting opportunity to help lead and influence the direction of the largest Stream in the business. The Audit stream has ambitious growth and business transformation targets which are fundamental to the continuation of BDO’s success.

The Strategic Operations Director is the critical in executing the strategic ambitions of the stream.

The successful candidate will have exceptional communication and project management skills and will provide challenge to the stream leadership to ensure that strategic initiatives are implemented and that operational matters are dealt with as efficiently and effectively as possible.

A challenging, vibrant role which will provide the opportunity for strategic thinking, leadership and decision making.

Change Management

  • Project support to ASE to help deliver on strategic ambitions including those relating to the Operational Separation of the audit stream
  • Work with Project Switch teams to ensure a seamless transition to the new Workday system
  • Act as coach for change management
  • Manage transformational change programmes to ensure that the Audit stream remains agile in a fast paced digitally changing world.
  • Remaining in touch with competitor / and wider professional services development to provide robust challenge to existing ways of working.
  • Audit Stream representation on the Firm wide Adviser of the Future programme
  • Public Policy

  • Coordinate the content / messaging for public policy related matters and collating feedback and insights to continuously inform our policy.
  • Assemble Firm responses for consultations relevant to the audit stream (e.g. CMA and Brydon)
  • Internal Communications

  • Continue to embed the BUILD strategy throughout the stream
  • Design and deliver a broad range of national communication activities
  • Manage communication at all levels ensuring robust and consistent messages
  • Build and maintain internal networks with wider support functions
  • Resourcing

  • Oversee a new project to transform the way that we allocate resources to audited entities. We are in the process of recruiting a senior manager to lead this on a day to day basis and that individual will report into this role.
  • Other areas

  • Responsibility for Audit Quality Database which profiles the stream’s clients and is used to populate various regulatory reports
  • Responsibility for Audit Quality Indicators
  • Lead relationship for PACE (Audit Committee Reporting)
  • Responsibility for the Audit Summit (biennial 2 day event net held in October 2021 to inspire and communicate the strategic direction of the stream)

  • Recent professional services experience desirable
  • Accountancy qualification desirable
  • Excellent influencing, relationship building and communication skills.
  • Excellent project management and leadership skills.
  • Strong and proven coaching skills.
  • Strong ability to recognise and develop talented individuals.
  • Proven experience of finance management.
  • Previous senior operations management experience desirable
