Job Description

As Planner, you will be a key member working within Operations. The role will require a dynamic, driven and methodical individual who will use their depth of business process knowledge to ensure the timely supply of product to the customer, on time and within budget.

Tasks will consist of, but exceed; capacity analysis, supply chain analysis, work queue creation, expediting, MRP control and cleansing, OTIF analysis, variance analysis, and revenue analysis.

This role will require a person with extensive background knowledge of planning and ERP principles, who will engage and develop relationships with key stakeholders such as Demand Coordinators, Supply Coordinators, Shift Coordinators and Engineers, and will be part of a closed loop communication with clients to meet both their expectations and plant capability.

  • As a central point of contact within Gateshead operations who will support communications externally, always ensure maximum professionalism to solidify from a commercial perspective the branding of NOV.
  • Liaise competently, confidently and promptly with your key stakeholders, developing an excellent working relationship and attend to all requirements or requests timely, efficiently and diligently ensuring that our clients receive the highest level of service from all areas of the organisation.
  • You will collaborate with your respective Coordinator to develop the A ctivity M anagement S ystem (AMS) to ensure all function tasks / activities are completed routinely to maximise the performance of the department.
  • You will adhere to all MRP suggestions for your product(s) to ensure full compliance with supply requirements and your agreed A ctivity M anagement S ystem (AMS).
  • You will create finite work queue schedules in line with factory capacity and ensure work order packs are available and handed over to Production in line with agreed process / timings.
  • You will liaise with other departments to ensure materials and drawings are available prior to being required and act as a pull system’ to meet the demands of the schedule.
  • You will take ownership of your product and be measured against OTIF and revenue targets, as well as attending all associated meetings to present your product output to operations.
  • You will assess outsourcing needs and feedback suggestions to the Supply Coordinator for agreement and action.
  • You will be accountable for the control of your product(s) work orders and be responsible for aged / nonmoving WIP.
  • You will support planned annual WIP check(s) and target 100% work order accuracy on completion.

  • ONC / HNC in Engineering principle and / or relevant experience (Essential)
  • Degree in Engineering / Supply chain principle (Desirable)

  • Working knowledge of a Purchasing / Planning environment (Essential)
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing supply chain (Essential)
  • Experience in expediting internal manufacturing operations (Desirable)
  • Experience of planning in project based environments (Desirable)

  • Computer literacy (including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook) (Essential)
  • ERP & Purchasing Systems (Essential)
  • Knowledge of machining, forging, fabrication, assembly, pressure test and painting (Desirable)
  • Working knowledge of Vantage and or Syteline systems (Desirable)
