Hybrid working - 2 days per week in office (Chichester or London)

This key purpose of the role is to manage and improve the end-to-end month end financial accounting process, to provide up to date technical accounting assistance to the business and to interface on a day-to-day basis with our external auditors and to provide all external financial reporting, including the year end group consolidated statutory accounts and those of the UK subsids.

Key Responsibilities

To effectively manage the end-to-end month end close process including the monthly group consolidation and production of the Monthly Performance Report’ (MPR) and ensure all financial reporting is delivered on a timely and accurate basis

To be the technical financial accounting expert within the team. This involves proactively identifying and advising on the impact of business and external environment changes that potentially impact on the monthly and year end numbers, preparing accounting papers as required and being pro-active in sharing with our external auditors.

Producing relevant framework practical accounting policies for easy communication across the group to management accountants and finance business partners

Prepare the year end Charles Taylor year end group consolidation and assist in the provision of other key year end accounting papers as required

To support the preparation of the UK statutory accounts for non-operating and funding entities within the corporate structure, including consolidation (where required) and associated documentary requirements.

Manage the review process of relevant entities including working with the directors and company secretarial team to ensure that all statutory accounts are filed on a timely basis.

To manage the day-to-day external audit timetable and associated deliverables. This involves ensuring the agreed timetable is reasonable and communicated to key stakeholders and that Charles Taylor deliver agreed requirements on a timely and accurate basis, especially when the external auditors are onsite.

Provide all financial reporting to third parties on a timely and accurate basis and examples include reporting information requests to the lender and pension trustee covenant advisors

Support the Global Head of Financial Reporting on all tax matters, including acting as a global co-ordination point as required

To provide additional analysis and reporting, as directed by the Global Head of Financial Reporting and / or Group Finance Director

To ensure the consolidation software is properly supported and is fit for purpose

To constantly look for opportunities to improve the timeliness and accuracy of the financial reporting process

Manage and develop one member of the team (Group Reporting Analyst)

To liaise with the Group Head of FP&A as required

Required Skills

Qualified accountant (ACA preferred) with at least 4 years pqe (with at least two years of manager experience)

Audit and accountancy background (Top 10 firm)

Excellent and up to date technical accounting knowledge with an ability to simply communicate concepts to key finance staff across Charles Taylor

Initiative-taking with an aptitude for process improvement and change management

Managing multi-currency financial systems

Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills with senior management, auditors, and external advisers

Experience / awareness of influencing virtual’ multicultural teams

Strong financial analysis skills

Strong organization and project management skills ability to manage multiple projects with competing demands
