Electrical Engineering Technician
Your role will be to contribute proactively to the delivery of planned, condition based and breakdown maintenance works using predominantly hands-
on skills and experience. You will provide first line investigation of all faults and defects, and where appropriate complete the technical assessment of works, compiling risk assessments and method statements such that further works may be progressed by the E,C&I Craft Team.

You will be capable of demonstrating knowledge in a range of varied E,C&I work activities of a complex and non-routine nature.
The role will assist with the management of all appropriate resources, ensuring that issues which impact / are likely to impact on production are avoided or remedied efficiently and swiftly.
You must display capacity for individual responsibility and autonomy.
Key Activities :
Be the primary point of contact for the instigation, assessment and processing of all E,C&I works.
Communicate and facilitate works between site-based teams and third-party service providers, ensuring the most effective and efficient use of the E,C&I Craft Team resource.
Utilise your fault finding skills and knowledge, using software and data gathering, condition monitoring systems to identify, pro-
actively prevent or rectify faults
Assess all E,C&I works both from a technical and safety perspective, using pre-existing skills to identify hazards, risks, solutions and mitigation measures.
Utilising pre-existing SAP and Nisoft experience to technically assess all works and produce suitable and sufficient Maintenance Orders for the safe and timely rectification of faults and the completion of routine maintenance.
Provide a range of technical assistance, guidance and hands-on help to members of the E,C&I team using your extensive knowledge and experience in the power generation and electrical switchgear field.
Lead, plan and undertake maintenance of HV switchgear and system apparatus having the ability to recognise faults and provide corrective solutions.
Carry out and co-ordinate commissioning activities to the appropriate process and standards, managing the commissioning database.
Managing SAP and test data, including maintenance records, protection relay and alarm testing routines & records.
Carrying out planned and unplanned plant maintenance, in line with skills and expertise.
Contribute to continuous improvement through job plan improvement, failure reporting and corrective action system (FRACAS) processes, conducting root cause problem solving where required.
Supporting engineers with specific projects, improvement programs or fault diagnosis.
Supporting and mentoring trainees and other junior members of staff (i.e. apprentices) to develop future talent.
HNC or equivalent along with significant expertise in electrical engineering, power generation and engineering principles.
Extensive knowledge of and experience in maintaining a wide variety of electrical switchgear and systems ranging from a vintage of 50 years to state of the art technology.
An IOSH (Managing Safely) or equivalent Health and Safety qualification as a minimum, with a proven track record demonstrating a clear knowledge of safety practices and management.
Ability to interrogate, retrieve and interpret data from plant monitoring / control systems such as PI Process-book and Ovation, using this data to deploy preventative maintenance activities or recognise and diagnose faults.
The ability to build effective formal and informal working relationships and maintain them.
A positive and proactive approach to all aspects of work.
The ability to work effectively with peers and teams in a variety of contexts and situations.
Planning and organisational skills to include effective risk identification, task prioritisation and resource management.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Extensive working knowledge of PC based computer systems and maintenance / information management systems such as SAP, Nisoft, PI Process Book and Ovation.
Be able to read and interpret electrical drawings and OEM technical manuals to ensure correct operation and maintenance of electrical plant and apparatus.
Ability to use test equipment to fault find on electrical control systems, HV and LV power systems.
NEBOSH General Certificate.
HV1 & Sanction For Test CatE.
Nominated Contract ERSHE / Instructing Engineer, Risk Assessor, Hot Work Assessor, Floor Opening, Confined spaces.
Excellent understanding of the commercial and financial effects of plant operation.
