Link Fund Solutions, part of Link Group, a leading global provider of financial administration solutions, is the independent Authorised Fund Manager to £50bn of assets managed by 50 portfolio managers.

As the AFM, we have the responsibility to ensure that external delegate investment managers are managing authorised funds in accordance with the regulatory requirements of the FCA and other relevant regulators, and ensuring that expected consumer outcomes occur.

Job Description

To support the growth of the division via new business won, we are recruiting a Senior Manager in the Investment Management Supervision Team (IMST), within Link Fund Solutions.

Job Purpose :

  • Ensure that external delegate investment managers are managing LFS funds, in accordance with the regulatory requirements of the FCA and other relevant regulators.
  • Lead and / or facilitate a robust challenge process of an investment manager where investment outcomes are anomalous when compared to expected norms for a given investment strategy.
  • Represent the IMST department on business acceptance committees
  • Provide investment management and regulatory challenge as part of new product transitions
  • Responsibilities :

    The jobholder will take charge of a portfolio of delegated investment management firms and :

  • Undertake a detailed risk assessment, in conjunction with other members of IMST, of a proposed investment manager delegate, making recommendations to the business acceptance committee on risk issues to be considered prior to deciding whether to enter into a portfolio management agreement.
  • Agree and put in place a monitoring plan (desktop review of MI, regular meetings and on-site reviews) appropriate to the risk assessed with that particular investment manager and the funds managed.
  • Review the risk assessment and monitoring plan on an ongoing basis taking account of changes in the portfolio, changes at the investment firm, market developments, regulatory changes, external information, etc.
  • Take the lead in scheduling, planning and undertaking regular and ongoing due diligence visits to the investment managers in accordance with their relative risk assessment
  • Maintain monitoring files and documentation in accordance with LFS requirements and standards, including visit reports, working papers and correspondence with investment managers.
  • Deal with queries from the investment managers, depositaries and auditors
  • Raise knowledge and awareness of regulatory requirements and issues within LFS, in order to ensure an appropriate, efficient and commercially viable oversight model for LFS
  • Regular reporting and presentations to the various Committees on the monitoring plan, issues arising, action taken and escalation of significant matters.
  • Assess the implications of any new funds, proposed changes proposed to existing funds as part of pre-take on and transition
  • Support the evolution of the oversight framework so that it is always at forefront of best practice
  • Maintain relevant regulatory knowledge
  • Required

  • Sound and deep knowledge of the FCA requirements applying to investment management and an solid understanding of the rules relating to COLL and FUND
  • A sound understanding of the investment management process
  • Graduate and / or professional qualification e.g. chartered accountant
  • Minimum 10 years in an asset management or equivalent experience obtained via consultancy or regulator
  • Competencies

  • Ability to represent IMST in front of both senior internal management and external portfolio managers
  • An enquiring mind’, with good attention to detail
  • Ability to think on your feet’ and to think laterally
  • Ability to lead a small multi-disciplined team, undertaking due diligence on portfolio managers
  • Good judgement required to make well reasoned and pragmatic recommendations and decisions that satisfy required regulatory outcomes
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to deliver within required time frames
  • Strong team player who seeks to encourage close collaboration across the business and development of individuals

  • Ability to utilise applications to derive maximum benefit in efficiency and presentations
