Head Chef.

Connect Appointments are exclusively working with our leading Edinburgh Bar and Restaurant Client in looking for a passionate Head Chef to join their busy flagship restaurant / bar operation.

The Head Chef role is a hands on one, leading a large dedicated team of chefs and kitchen support staff. The development of the team, consistency / quality of services, and food are key responsibilities of the role.

They also are part of the ethos of this established, growing, respected company to keep a head of the competition in the marketplace.

The Food concept is heavily influenced by its freshness, seasonality, and grill lead gourmet meat offerings. With a service style that is friendly, and personable.

Experience of a busy volume high street Restaurant Brasserie operation would be highly desirable for the role at Head Chef.

Areas of responsibility :

  • Control and direct the food preparation process and any other relative activities.
  • Construct menus with new, or existing culinary creations ensuring the ideas fit the brief.
  • Approve and "polish" dishes before they reach the customer.
  • Plan orders of equipment or ingredients according to identified shortages.
  • Arrange for repairs when necessary.
  • Remedy any problems or defects.
  • Be fully in involved in hiring, managing, and training kitchen staff.
  • Comply with nutritional, and allergies requirements.
  • Manage sanitation regulations and food / health & safety standards.
  • Foster a climate of cooperation, respect and friendliness between co-workers.
  • Desired attributes :

  • Proven volume experience as Head Chef.
  • Approachable, calm under pressure, positive personality.
  • Professional understanding / ability of kitchen management.
  • Manage / delegate responsibilities and monitoring progress.
  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills.
  • Up-to-date with culinary, and kitchen processes.
  • Good understanding of useful computer programs (MS Office, Procure Wizard software, POS).
  • Credentials in health and safety training.
