As a business area that needs to move quickly and be readily adaptable to the demand internally and externally, the Material Control team have grown 50% year on year from the last 2 years to support the growth of the business.

Overall team size is 40, with 5 teams split by commodity interior, body, powertrain, chassis, electrical - you will be the manager of a single commodity responsible for the team of that commodity.
Though the team take a flexible approach to hierarchy and are supportive of each other when required.
As a Manager, it will be your responsibility to coach, develop and recruit for your team, overall team size will be 10-12 with 3 direct reports (Senior Material Control Planners).
The aim for the team is to ensure everyone is operating at the same level, taking a proactive approach to their own development and instil a high level of expectation throughout despite the high pressures.
Whilst it will be the role of the Senior’s to manage suppliers, you will be the single point of escalation between supply chain and purchasing, you will be extremely active from a supplier engagement perspective should the supply chain breakdown and become a potential threat to our production line.
You will also be responsible to advise on the potential risk to associated teams purchasing, SQA, production and communicate on how suppliers are performing OTIF.

Whatever your current situation, to be successful in this role, you should have extensive supply chain management experience within manufacturing, not necessarily automotive.
Previous experience managing a team, with exceptional interpersonal skills, it will be expected of you to be hands-on and well accommodated with dealing and adapting to changing priorities.
A good understanding of SAP scheduling would be beneficial.
