Purpose of the role

  • The role is to oversee the Bibby Leasing Finance function and support the delivery of the desired financial performance and continued control of costs.
  • Manage the preparation of Financial MI and support the preparation of planning cycles. The role is also responsible for maintaining the financial records for the Leasing business.
  • Ownership of the financial compliance and management of audits will also lie with this role
  • Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Production and interpretation of financial information and analytics along with delivering resulting actions from the MI created.
  • These will include : Profitability review Asset and Sector analysis Develop accounting reporting structure to accommodate growth e.

    g. Divisional splits Provide KPI analysis required by business Analysing & Identifying change and variance to business model and reporting to business Development of Business Intelligence capability -

    Analysing competitors and market trends

  • Ownership of Bibby Leasing accounting, monitoring and reporting systems incorporating the delivery of month end accounts and provision analysis.
  • In addition this includes the continuous improvement of month end accounts process.

  • Responsibility for Treasury / cash through the management of block audits and the submittal of blocks in line with funder requirements.
  • Monitoring and interpreting cash flows including anticipating future requirements

  • Proactive control over the Financial Compliance and risk for the Bibby Leasing business. This is achieved through the development of financial management mechanisms and creation of sustained relationships with appropriate external contacts e.g. auditors, HMRC.
  • Preparation and interpretation of monthly VAT and accounting returns taking into account a Full understanding of VAT in relation to the leasing business.
  • Constant review and improvement of the process

  • Proactive cost control for the Leasing business through the support in the preparation of budgets including Financial and Sales.
  • And continued reporting and adherence to those budgets.

  • Effectively manage the finance team through appropriate resourcing, selection, succession planning and retention plans that are prioritised appropriately to retain skills and knowledge within the team.
  • Reducing unwanted staff attrition and managing performance quickly and appropriately to maintain stability and effective working practices.

  • Promote and support the continuous training and development, and PDPs for all individuals within the reporting line ensuring consistency across BFS through liaising with HR and L&D.
  • Achieve this by living the Bibby values.

  • To support the team to maintain and uphold the highest standards of service through consistent management and demonstrable action along with coaching and monitoring strategic initiatives.
  • This should result in continued positive interactions with the teams internal and external stakeholders

  • Any other duties or projects commensurate with the level of responsibility of this role, for which the role holder has the necessary experience and / or training
  • Key knowledge and experience

    Essential knowledge and experience

  • Well-developed reporting and analytical skills proven within a financial services Finance function
  • Ability to proactively work to tight deadlines and flex work schedules accordingly
  • Fully qualified accountant ACA / ACCA / CIMA with demonstrable PQE
  • Desirable knowledge / experience

  • Experience within the Asset Based Finance sector
  • Experience in a managerial role
  • Strong Excel skills
