Main Purpose of Role The Catastrophe Risk Analyst role requires an analytical, enthusiastic and energetic person. The role will be required to conduct analyses to assist the treaty reinsurance underwriting team in the selection, assessment and management of risk.
Review and analyze exposure data using 3rd party and proprietary catastrophe models and tools ensuring data quality, modeling accuracy and adherence to internal guidelines.
Analyze model input, results and loss data in order to interpret year on year changes and impact of Ariel Re’s view of risk.
Communicate effectively any relevant findings to the responsible underwriters. Perform analysis including results validation and benchmarking against historical events.
Liaise with model vendors and brokers to resolve model issues, to review procedures for running analysis correctly, and ensuring data accuracy, and share findings with team.
Assist with the process of maintaining, enhancing & developing models as required. Attend industry conferences and transfer knowledge to the risk modeling department on current developments.
Role Requirements / Qualifications / Skills / Competencies At least 2 years’ experience using Property Catastrophe Risk Modeling Software in a team oriented underwriting environment.
Experience and / or accredited training with RMS or AIR software with RMS preferred. A university degree in a relevant discipline (math or science).
Experience with computer programming using languages like SQL, R, Python or Visual Basic would be advantageous. Strong organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills are essential.
