Job Description

This role is for a Systems Engineer (SE) to work within the RMS UK Engineering & Technology (E&T) Team on the design, development, and testing for Airborne Mission Systems and Ground Based Training Systems.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake a variety of technical functions, including technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and analysis.

They will ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions and acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

This will be achieved through the translation of customer requirements into hardware and software specifications using a variety of techniques such as functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies.

The SE will be integral to the successful performance of Lockheed Martin’s programmes in the UK; the candidate will be expected to develop and adhere to challenging schedules.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

Provide expert knowledge and design support to the Lockheed Martin RMS UK E&T team by undertaking Systems Engineering activities through the whole project life-cycle, including :

  • Requirement analysisDetailed reviews with customer and internal boards;Use of CASE tools to correctly describe and link flow of requirements;
  • Detailed System Specification(SS) / Sub-System Specifications (SSS) / Software Requirement Specifications (SRS) derivation from customer requirements;
  • Review user requirements and ensure correct flow down throughout requirements, either via traditional development methods or Agile methodologies;
  • System designPreparation of Design Analysis Reports (DARs) to assess and recommend design solutions to requirementsPreparation of Interface Requirement Specification (IRS)Creation of Architecture DesignsCreation of solution / product System Definition Documents (SDD)Develop Test system strategies
  • Support Integration, Test and verificationReview Test proceduresSupport design for test systems relating to integration rigsSupport System verification and validationRun System sell off tests to customer and create reports to show correct validation of requirements.

  • Desired skills, qualifications and experience

    Experience of Airborne Mission Systems and Training Systems development beneficial, in addition to being able to demonstrate the following skills :

  • Analysis of technical problems and the production of pragmatic solutions;
  • Resolution of issues in an effective productive manner;
  • Production and convincing presentation of proposal and design documents Customer and Supplier;
  • Ability to make rapid decisions;
  • Comfortable leading and working with a small team of people; good listening and debating skills;
  • Proven ability to produce innovative, technically compliant and cost effective solutions;
  • Practical experience of Model Based Systems Engineering (SysML, Rhapsody, Enterprise Architect);
