About Mencap At Mencap we work in partnership with people with a learning disability. We do this by providing high quality, flexible services that support people, including young adults, to live as independently as possible in their own homes and in the community.
Everyone wants a purposeful job - to do something meaningful. At Mencap, we can give you that. You will have opportunities to develop as a person, colleague, leader and activist.
You’ll make new friends and feel inspired to reach your potential. We will ask a lot of you - but you’ll get back so much more.
With us, it is never just a job’.
In return for your hard work and passion, we can give you real meaning and purpose in your work.
Are you creative in the kitchen like Jamie Oliver? Can you bend it like Beckham? Or are you excited by theatre?
We are looking to expand our team of dedicated Support Workers in Seaford who are currently supporting 7 individuals in supported living, whom have a learning disability.
Ages range from the mid-20’s to the early 70’s. We work in a person-centred manner & support people to participate in a variety of activities suited to their individual tastes.
Flexibility is key as we provide staffing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Shifts will be spread across morning, afternoons, evenings and weekends.
Staff are also required to cover sleep ins (payment for sleep ins is competitive and compliant with National Living Wage requirements).
You will be supporting those within the service with day to day tasks such as shopping, personal care, cleaning, finances and medication.
Here at Claremont Road, we would definitely class ourselves as foodies’ (food can be the answer to anything!) and so the people we support would like support to plan tasty meals that they haven’t tried before do you have a family favourite that you’re particularly proud of?
The people we support a variety of activities & hobbies, these include playing football, going to the gym, and going on theatre trips to name a few do you love the excitement of the theatre?
You will be required to support people to organise trips to enable them to access their hobbies. Here at Mencap, it’s clear no two days will be the same.
The people we support have said that you will need to be genuinely nice, informative and proactive in supporting them which would allow you to make a real difference to their lives.
They would like to be involved in all aspects of their life and would like support staff to be patient, kind & friendly.
As a support worker, all you’ll need to have is a positive attitude and a desire to improve the lives of those with a learning disability.
Should you want the opportunity to work for Mencap, we will support you with award winning training and encourage progression in your role.
Enhanced DBS is required for each successful candidate.
