    Ellershaw House Care Home, based in the beautiful rural outskirts of Ripon, are seeking a Day service senior support workers to join their team on a full time basis to work with an individual on a daily basis.

    The role will be within Ellershaw house day service and requires you to work Monday - Friday, 9am - 4 : 40pm.

    Based on a farm with 14 acres of land, Ellershaw House is a home for 10 12 adults with learning disabilities, this is a unique role where you will be fully immersed into the friendly family-like atmosphere.

    We are seeking somebody who is passionate about providing outstanding care, with a can-do attitude and great sense of humour this is a small, family-like team, who all enjoy a good laugh! Maybe you have a passion, hobby or skill that you could share with the service users?

    Many of the team here bring their hobbies to work and get everyone involved. The possibilities are endless as residents here enjoy gardening, arts, music, horse riding and more! Do you love animals?

    They have horses, chickens and dogs! You will not be required to look after the animals, but a general love for them will come in handy.

    Key responsibilities & Duties will involve :

  • Liaise and review the weekly schedule with Registered Manager for activities and Student preferences.
  • To work with students to meet their needs including personal care, social, emotional, recreational and learning needs in accordance with their care plan or goal plan programme
  • To provide emotional support, companionship and a safe environment for those in need of supervision and help.
  • To assist with mobility including use of wheelchairs, walkers etc Accompany clients on outings, ensuring that all safety standards are met, particularly with regards to mobility, medication, continence, and ability to take direction (wandering).
  • To assist with organising and delivering a programme of appropriate & achievable, therapeutic & recreational activities to enhance the lives & improve the wellbeing of people attending the day service Run all events on the programme giving regard to client health and safety, ability, comfort & enjoyment.
  • Ensure that all activities are risk assessed, and, risk assessed against the participants

  • To prepare meals and drinks and provide assistance with eating / drinking as required To assist in the administration of medication, where appropriate, following training.
  • To carry out basic first aid and summon emergency services if required. To promote equality as an integral part of the role and to treat everyone with fairness and dignity

  • To participate in the development of care plans.
  • Assist in fund raising activities for entertainments, materials and outings.
  • Complete client contact and activity records Assist with transport for clients.
  • To work as a member of a team and to liaise with colleagues, relatives, care managers, therapists, GPs etc. on behalf of students regarding ongoing care needs and support
  • To report any concerns about abuse or the welfare or safety of any adult or child there is contact with at work to a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager / nominated person / person on call.
  • Comply with all Ellershaw House Ltd policies and procedures and those of other statutory and enforcing authorities (e.
  • g. Fire, H&S, Protection of Vulnerable Adults, CQC)

  • To contribute to the continual development and improvement of the Day Service through internal and external quality improvement programmes
  • To undertake other duties as required, under the direction of the Registered Manager
  • Access to your own transport is essential due the rural location. We are seeking candidates with experience supporting and caring for others and candidates that have Level 2 Health and Social Care qualification and have or be willing to work towards their Level 3 qualification.

    The rate of pay is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
