We have an exciting opportunity at RSK for you to join RSK Geosciences. Working alongside an experienced team based in Glasgow you will get involved with a wide variety of geo-environmental and geotechnical projects including investigations in relation to development / regeneration, energy infrastructure, environmental permitting and Part IIA.

Key clients include Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN), Shell, Fife Council and several other Scottish local authorities.

    What you can expect in this position

    A Geo-environmental Engineer is responsible for undertaking site assessments, with a focus on desk and site-based work. This will include both geo-environmental and geotechnical site investigations, data interpretation, risk assessment and reporting.

    This role would suit some with a proactive can do approach, close attention to detail, enthusiasm to get the job done well and ability to get on with a wide range of people.

    At least 1 2 years previous relevant work experience in consultancy would be beneficial. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.

    What you'll be doing :

  • Undertaking Preliminary Risk Assessments (Phase 1 Desk Studies) and intrusive site investigations for environmental and / or geotechnical purposes in line with British standards and technical guidance
  • Preparing health and safety documentation, liaising with subcontractors and scheduling soil and water samples for analytical and geotechnical testing
  • Managing fieldwork activities and subcontractors
  • Writing factual and interpretative reports
  • What we're looking for :

  • Experience of undertaking intrusive site investigations, including leading fieldworks including Health & Safety issues, managing sub-contractors, and undertaking sampling and laboratory scheduling
  • Experience of undertaking environmental monitoring including groundwater low flow sampling and ground gas monitoring
  • Experience of preparing and assisting with factual and interpretative reports for geo-environmental and geotechnical purposes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing
  • Ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise workload
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Computer literate and skilled with Microsoft Office applications, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Candidates must be willing to spend a significant amount of their working day out on site and away from home.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Qualifications / Certification

  • BSc degree level qualified in Geology, Chemistry, Civil Engineering or a related subject essential
  • MSc in Engineering Geology / Geotechnical Engineering or Contaminated Land related subjects preferable but not essential
