INTERNAL / EXTERNAL VACANCY

In this role you will support the Head of Governance and Compliance in servicing a caseload of complaints and other matters to ensure the PCC is able to effectively discharge their statutory functions in an appropriate and timely way.

Duties will include managing appropriate office systems, policies and processes to ensure the effective handling of complaints.

Managing Freedom of Information Act requests and Subject Access Requests from members of the public and organising and managing police appeal tribunal processes in accordance with the Police Appeals Tribunals Rules.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent and / or proven capability and experience of operating in a similar role and at a similar level of responsibility i.

e. to be able to work unsupervised on their own initiative. You will have experience of processing matters in accordance with a legal regime and / or set policies and procedures, including recording of information, researching and applying the relevant standards and responding to parties accordingly.

The ability to be able to interpret and implement legislation and statutory guidance and maintain confidentiality is required together with having interpersonal skills of a very high standard and being highly motivated, able to work alone or as part of a team.

You will be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Specific knowledge of regulations and relevant legislation relating to the national police complaints system, Freedom of Information Act and Data Protection legislation is required.

An understanding of the role of PCCs in relation to policing, community safety and the criminal justice system and the statutory basis underpinning those relationships is required.

The proposed interview dates for this role are 21st and 22nd December 2021.
