Assessment Systems Manager

We are looking to recruit an Assessment Systems Manager to take oversight of a newly formed Assessment Systems team in the department of Education Management.

This is an exciting and challenging time at MMU. New systems development work is underway in the university and there is an intensive schedule of enhancements to be rolled out over the coming years.

These developments need dedicated expert business-as-usual’ support to ensure they are implemented efficiently and optimum benefit is extracted.

The Role

The primary focus of the role is to lead a systems and data oriented team within the wider Assessment Management area. Undertaking a leading role in the area to coordinate systems and data in order to facilitate the delivery of a professional support service in relation to all aspects of the university’s assessment requirements.

The post holder will be expected to interrogate data sources to a high level and draw sophisticated conclusions and recommendations.

They will be responsible for ensuring data integrity, quality and visibility across all assessment-related teams. They will be responsible for the maintenance of in-house solutions as well as the implementation and integrations of various assessment platforms, e.

g. Semstry ExamTime, Moodle and potential future online assessment software.

The post holder will have an appreciation of how a complete range of data management and analytics impacts the assessment area and will use this knowledge to ensure they deliver data-driven change and improved decision-making.

They will be responsible for aligning the service area with university data definitions and expectations, and will map internal processes.

The post holder will oversee the provision of expert second tier support for technical issues raised by via the Service Desk or Operations team.

The post holder will be the line manager of a small team of staff and there is an expectation that specialisation and expertise is actively developed and deployed.

The post will work closely with colleagues in academic and Professional Service departments to ensure assessment requirements are supported and carried out in line with university standards and regulations.

Ideal Candidate

You will be a proven line manager who is able to develop and enthuse staff.

You will ideally have in-depth experience and knowledge of higher education specialist systems, e.g. student records systems, virtual learning environments etc.

You must have experience and exceptional skills at data management. Ideally, this would include data modelling and the ability to define system configuration based on service requirements.

This role will require an excellent problem-solver, who is also able to communicate with all levels of the university to ensure change is implemented, where possible, to avoid complex issues reoccurring in the future.
