About MAIT

Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration and Testing (MAIT) is the backbone of the creation and delivery of our Space and Military products throughout the World.

We manufacture our own parts onsite with revolutionary technology and expertise gathered over years of creating industry leading products.

We assemble our parts together with other parts that have been sourced from industry leading providers of the best technical hardware available.

We integrate our systems onto our space and military craft and make sure that everything is ready for launch. We test everything (sometimes to breaking point) to make sure that once it leaves the Earth atmosphere it is the best possible product we can create, it will withstand any possible variable and temperature as well as be reliable for as long as the satellite is in operation sometimes longer than 15 years!

Role description

Due to a huge period of growth in the Space industry, Airbus Defence and Space (ADS) is looking for a Thermal Vacuum (TV) Test Engineer to join our dynamic team.

As a TV Test Engineer you will be responsible for undertaking a full range of engineering activities within the environmental test skill area.

The primary role will be to configure, instrument and undertake test operations on space equipment using specialist Thermal Vacuum & Climatic testing facilities to meet customer quality test standards and requirements.

The main duties include :

  • Use of bespoke test facilities to achieve test specification & requirements.
  • Design and manufacture of bespoke test setups and tooling.
  • Mechanical & Electrical operations on test facilities to support desired test setup.
  • Review and analysis of post test data.
  • Compiling of test data, producing test certification and reports.
  • Responsible for the production of local documentation (LDS).
  • Maintain test instrumentation, facilities and equipment.
  • Ensure the adherence to 5S cleanroom disciplines and practices. Ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Liaise with internal and external customers about their projects.
  • This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.

    Stellenanforderungen - Qualifikationen

  • Working knowledge & understanding of vacuum principles and solid experience within a test engineering environment.
  • Computer Literacy especially in Microsoft office software.
  • Be prepared to be flexible in working hours, the test lab covers 24hours a day so ability to cover varying shifts is essential.
  • Engineering knowledge the ability to understand and use both mechanical and electrical formulae (resistances, currents & power values).
  • Understanding of technical documents (drawings, procedures, technical notes)
  • Understand general engineering practices utilised in the Aerospace industry.
  • A professional attitude and can work well in a team
  • Understanding of Space environmental conditions would be an advantage
  • Working knowledge and basic understanding of TQCM monitored processes.
  • Knowledge of Test & Measurement Instrumentation methods.
  • To be willing and adaptable to learn new skills
  • A minimum qualification of an engineering based HNC.
