The role

As Caretaker, you will be required to carry out cleaning, landscaping, clearance, gardening and general maintenance works to communal areas in accordance with any written and / or verbal specification.

You’ll work with other Caretakers, Housing Services Officers, Contractors and office staff in the management of schemes, ensuring that issues concerning residents and the sites in general are reported to the appropriate person, but that the principles of confidentiality are adhered to at all times.

You’ll provide a service that promotes the welfare of the residents, in particular, those who are frail or vulnerable. You’ll maintain and update the list of tools and equipment at each allocated scheme and advise management when new materials are required or need to be maintained, repaired or renewed.

You’ll carry out all duties in line with Catalyst’s Health & Safety policy and procedures, wearing appropriate PPE at all times.

Key requirements

We’re looking for someone with knowledge of cleaning, gardening and general maintenance along with previous experience in a customer facing role.

You’ll be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team. Good time management skills are required. You’ll also have good interpersonal and customer service skills.

Ideally you will have a multi-trade and / or good trade experience to undertake repair works, knowledge of COSHH regulations and experience of working in a Housing environment.

You’ll be educated to GCSE level and hold a full, clean driving licence. An enhanced DBS is required.
