The Silver Line is the UK’s only free, confidential, 24 hour helpline for vulnerable and isolated older people available every day and night of the year.
Launched nationally in November 2013 by Dame Esther Rantzen, the helpline has already received over 2.2 million calls, over half of callers having no one else to speak to at all.
We have also recruited and trained over 4000 volunteers as Silver Line Friends who make weekly calls to older people.
The Silver Line will continue in its ambitious growth plans in 2019 with the roll out of regional volunteer hubs throughout the UK which will allow cost controlled growth to meet the extremely fast growing demand from older people for its helpline services.
