Reporting to the Head of HR you will form part of the HR management team. You will also build strong relationships and partner the management team across the business providing support which will see you recognised by them as an integral member of their departmental success.
As the Talent & Learning Manager you will, in conjunction with the Head of HR, be responsible for assessing the organisational and people capabilities required to deliver the Talent and Learning Strategies translating these into easily understood Learning and Development, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Hiring and Succession Plans which best utilise the skills and expertise from the Learning and Development and Talent Acquisition Teams.
You will build effective working relationship with the Head of HR, lead and manage the Learning and Development and Talent Teams ensuring they provide effective day-to-day operational support across the business delivering to not only the strategy and plans, but agreed KPI’s and measures ensuring effectiveness, value add, identifying trends and appropriate interventions.
You will be responsible for developing plans which are well blended and support overall HR and People change programmes, strengthening and growing our brand and reputation ensuring a positive experience contributing to overall organisational success which develops a sustainable and progressive workforce along with embedding and encouraging a continual learning culture underpinned by our values.
Work as part of the HR Management Team with the ability to plan department contributions based on Organisational need with a short, medium and long term view whilst conducting strategic assessment, attending meetings as required, measuring effectiveness and leveraging technologies.
Lead the development and implementation of the Learning and Development and Talent strategies, plans, policies and designing and managing implementation against agreed timeframes, budgets, and performance measures delivering lasting programmes.
Undertake capability assessments, analysing the organisational and people capabilities required to deliver the Learning and development and talent strategies and pipeline providing insight to the Head of HR in order to inform group level people and change programmes.
Effectively lead and manage both the Learning and Development and Talent teams ensuring resource is maximised and that regular mentoring, coaching and a culture of continual improvement is achieved.
Support the Head of HR and Management Teams to develop people capabilities across their respective area with a key focus on talent management and development activities including :
Learning & Development
Aligning employee and business needs ensuring maximum engagement to programmes, including scheduling deliveries along with enrolments on programmes to maximise the development of skills and knowledge through to surveying and evaluating success.
Leading, developing and encouraging integrated systems and working practices to support learning, objective setting, quality improvement and ongoing development planning.
Designing, delivering and facilitating employee training and Academy programmes and materials using a variety of mediums, including, presenting web based seminars, E-learning, formal, informal and interactive learning, career path workshops and job shadowing.
Development of structured career paths that identify top talent including implementing new initiatives such as an apprenticeship scheme, high performing, graduate and succession plans ensuring there is a healthy pipeline of talent alongside understanding new educational and training techniques.
Creation and evaluation of bespoke development learning journeys for individuals to maximise learning opportunities, close performance gaps, support success and retain our employees.
Introduce workforce planning aligning the talent and resource needs of the business with the improvement of candidate experience and employee retention, determining and continually delivering to agreed KPI’s and the use of hiring forecasts and talent pipeline and pool’s to future proof the organisations talent and success.
Development of an attractive full cycle recruitment model aligning to our strategical objectives and best practice ensuring the recruitment of high potential employees who are right for our business, at the right time with the right skills, knowledge and competence.
Design, plan and embed programmes for employee referrals, internal promotions, on-boarding and candidate background checks maximising employee engagement throughout.
Introduction of both proactive, reactive and timely campaigns to source, attract and find high potential individuals who are qualified for open positions and to also form part of our talent pool.
Lead the recruitment and selection process, creating targeted campaigns including candidate screening, searching, conducting interviews, assessment centres, career and graduate fair’s, effectively using social media, jobs boards, networking and profiling to maximise efficiency, continually improve time to hire, organically reduce costs and enhance employer brand.
Support the Head of HR Services and HR Team to ensure operational excellence is achieved and an effective and efficient People service is delivered to all HR customers.
Ensure team structure / design continually meets both the current and future business requirements.
Provide meaningful information to management on range of people metrics / KPI’s.
Produce and Analyse a range of data to identify trends and inform future talent and Learning and Development plans.
Maintain relationships with vendors and consultants maximising costs efficiency and negotiating contracts as necessary.
Strategic Management with the ability to translate organisational needs and goals into deliverable objectives and plans.
An exceptional project and change manager, with the ability to lead on multiple projects and identify and remove barriers and resistance to change effectively.
Commercially-astute with the ability to build a convincing business case and deliver pragmatic solutions where required.
Highly self-aware with the ability to identify own strengths and weaknesses and put in place appropriate steps to manage these effectively

This role is best suited to someone with a passion to help people learn and grow alongside a proven track record and extensive experience in a Learning, Development and Talent Acquisition Management Role that has demonstrated the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders, particularly at a senior management level including previously delivered People plans and programmes that have contributed to the success of a business.
Typically, the successful candidates will :
Be able to demonstrate how they have developed and delivered strategies, plans and programmes that have contributed to the achievement of organisational and business objectives.
Proven track record of leading on several concurrent projects and programmes.
Extensive experience of delivering both strategic and operational support to leaders and / or management which have resulted in significant and sustainable business benefits.
Demonstrate a specialist knowledge and capability within the Talent Acquisition and Learning and Development arena’s along with familiarity of Candidate Management Systems.
Exposure to working within a fast paced environment ideally within the retail industry.
Hold a professional qualification either via a HR degree / CIPD / CPLP qualification.
Full UK Driving Licence desirable as regular travel will be necessary.
