Details THE UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL FACULTY OF HEALTH AND LIFE SCIENCES INSTITUTE OF SYSTEMS, MOLECULAR AND INTEGRATIVE BIOLOGY (SMIB) DEPARTMENT OF MOLECULAR PHYSIOLOGY AND CELL SIGNALLING RESEARCH TECHNICIAN - GRADE 5 £25,628 - £29,615 pa We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, collaborative but independent research technician to work in the Neuronal Cytoskeleton Group led by Dr Natalia Sanchez-Soriano.
The primary focus of the post is to assist the group research activities and a BBSRC funded project to investigate how and why neurons change during ageing and after trauma, with a particular focus on the neuronal cytoskeleton and orgnele biology.
You will be required to employ a range of molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, such as cloning and plasmid preparations, protein binding assays and protein isolation from tissue.
You will assist and coordinate the maintenance of Drosophila stocks. The project also provides opportunities to use and / or learn microscopy and classical Drosophila genetics.
The laboratory benefits from a highly interactive scientific environment in the Department of Molecular Physiology & Cell Signalling and an outstanding neurobiology community in the Northeast of England.
In addition, Liverpool offers broad cultural and recreational opportunities. Strong consideration will be given to applicants with skills in molecular biology and biochemistry, ideally with a background in *Drosophila*.
You should have a BTEC (higher) level or equivalent and sufficient experience of laboratory work to need minimal supervision.
