We are looking for a talented Individual to join our UK team based at our Yeovil site in the South West of England. You will experience working in a friendly and welcoming environment within a team of engineers who take pride in the work they do.

The successful candidate will strengthen the overall skill set of the department. You will ensure the delivery of Capital Investment activities in support of the Business whilst complying with procedures in order to programme manage and execute investment projects.

Role assist in the development and implementation of the Capital Development plan for the company with respect to the acquisition of machine tools, process plant, and factory re organisations for the Transmissions department, ensuring that cost effective solutions are implemented incorporating, where practical, the latest technological advances that are applicable to the business, within the assigned financial budgets and delivery targets.

Key Responsibility Areas

Assist in the development of the Strategic manufacturing plan for the company providing inputs relating to :

  • Factory space and shop floor layouts.
  • Plant & equipment, Manufacturing techniques, Environmental aspects and ergonomics.
  • Create an investment business case in line with the current company project processes and standards that fully details the technical tasks to be completed, the associated costs, deployment plan, compliance with business requirements, detailed drawings, technical specifications, cost saving, Health & safety and economic evaluation.
  • Evaluate and provide information on a range of manufacturing techniques and processes applicable to the business including new technological advancements with respect to :

  • Machine tools, Process plant, Storage and material handling systems.
  • Provide detailed and budget costs associated with the introduction of new and replacement plant and processes, including determination of total project requirements via consultation with operations and suppliers.
  • Co ordinate via detailed project specification preparation, operations and supplier discussions, the evaluation and selection of new plant and processes.
  • Prepare detailed justification of new and replacement plant and processes for approval at all management levels from operations to Chief Executive, depending on project value.
  • Project manage the supply and introduction of new and replacement plant and being accountable for, Project costs, Implementation, Time scales & co ordination.
  • Prepare and implement projects within Health & Safety guidelines eg HSP 2055, understanding of European harmonized standards.
  • Initiate and co-ordinate capital plant disposal procedures and subsequently project manage plant disposal in conjunction with the Site Disposals coordinator.
  • Regularly review each project through its life cycle to ensure adherence to the Project Management Process, managing resources, contractors and risk to ensure timely safe delivery.
  • Raise purchase requisitions, receipt goods and or goods / service receipt invoices against original submitted quotations.
  • Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

  • Essential Project management skills, leading a team of people not under the individual's responsibility.
  • Must be qualified to Minimum HND or Degree level within project management or engineering.
  • The ability to work & drive projects to completion under own imitative.
  • Must be able to work on several different projects at the same time and priorities activities to ensure completion of all projects being managed simultaneously.
  • A good knowledge of manufacturing operating area, with knowledge of the integration of various machining and process activities.
  • Interpersonal and team skills and able to communicate and interact at all company levels, drive other to perform to meet key project deliverable's.
  • Computer literate with competency in standard software, including SAP and Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
  • Working ability to use CAD software for the preparation of detail drawings, both 2D and 3D software

  • Financial competence regarding budgetary control.
