Key Responsibilities
Working with internal businesses / the wider Private Bank Legal team (in London, Jersey, Luxembourg, Dublin and Switzerland) to review various legal agreements.
Applying existing templates to prepare agreements for the counterparty / customer’s execution.
Assisting in the preparation of legal opinions on capacity and authority and jurisdictional perfection requirements for both lending and derivative transactions.
Assisting the CPB business in drafting reference letters for clients.
Organising and managing the cross-border regulatory knowledge base, which includes working with others in the team to obtain legal opinions from every country in EMEA, including in relation to the ability to offer financial services in those countries.
Ensuring that all advice both provided and obtained from external counsel is suitable for the end business user and written in plain English .
Assisting in developing an archive of precedent negotiated documents.
Working closely with Sales and Trading desks on the production of Tailored Investment Proposals (TIPS).
Ensuring Citi’s and regulatory policies are maintained, and where deviations are necessary, ensuring appropriate risk and / or business approval is obtained.
Providing general support to business projects; regulatory re-papering projects and on cross-border issues.
Instructing and managing external counsel in relation to various matters, including those set out above
Ensuring the CPB business adheres to regulatory reporting and record keeping requirements.

The role will provide exposure to a wide range of legal work across a broad spectrum of products and services and will provide a unique opportunity to obtain insight into both CPB and the priorities and expectation of the business.
The role will involve working directly with business teams in London, Jersey and Switzerland and legal colleagues in Belfast, London, Dublin, Luxembourg, Spain and Switzerland
Function entails continuous interaction with Citigroup Legal Counsel and potential growth opportunities in advancing professional qualification.
Criteria / Qualifications :
Previous legal experience (such as working as a legal executive) or experience working in a large service orientated organisation is desired.
Previous negotiation experience is useful but not essential.
Comprehensive training will be provided.
Skills :
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team (including with team members that are not in the same location as you).
Ability to communicate effectively (written & verbal) at all organisational levels with internal business partners and external customers.
Ability to effectively project manage and organise own workload meeting key milestones the workload is high volume and will require the candidate to work quickly and efficiently.
Qualifications :
Minimum 2.1 classification law degree is required
