Monitors engineering processes and products for adherence to company and regulatory standards and practices. Participates in quality-improvement initiatives and projects.

Performs quality reviews and internal audits; evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.

Analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product.

Recommends modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.

Job DescriptionThe position of Quality Engineer is a service oriented role where support of Engineering, Manufacturing, and the end Customer is of prime importance.

Specific obligations for the position are detailed below. The Quality Engineer is : The Voice of the Customer and acts on behalf of the customer to ensure customer risk is known and effectively managed.

Occasional travel to customer sites (possibly outside the U.S.) is a requirement.Maintains all customer databases and supports all responses to customer concerns as they relate to the quality of product and service delivered to the customer.

Included are both external and internal customers. Serves as the champion for all customer concerns, both official and unofficial.

As such, the quality engineer becomes the primary contact for all customer concerns and is responsible for timely communications regarding the 8D process along with corrective and preventative actions.

Participates in launch activities and is responsible for the management of PPAP up to and including customer approval and the pre-production meeting.

Has primary responsibility for the maintenance of the Flow / FMEA / CTPL for products assigned to the team. This includes the associated sketches, process instructions, reaction plans, and appearance reports Is responsible for data and quality records including PPAP, test results, SPC limits, selection of special characteristics, etc.

Is the team expert on gage methods, GR&R, GD&T, SPC, process capability, and data analysis. Develops testing strategies for both problem solving and product development activities.

Participates in MRB. Is the champion of risk reduction, scrap reduction, and the reduction of costs associated with sort and rework.

Works closely with team leaders to assist with issues that would otherwise prevent manufacturing from achieving success.

  • All other duties as assigned.Required Skills and EducationBasic Requirements : Associates Degree in Engineering or Applied Science.
  • B.S. Preferred) orEquivalent work experience in Quality Engineering or Quality Supervision (CQE, CQT Preferred) Willingness and ability to travel occasionallyPossesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
