This role is a great opportunity for a driven and talented P3M Systems Manager to join our Portfolio Office Team.
You will have experience in managing Project, Programme and Portfolio Management (P3M) Systems or similar, and a track record of developing insight and reporting for senior stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills are essential as you build and manage relationships with projects, programmes, portfolios and leadership teams across the RSPB.
Excellent attention to detail, organisation skills and time management are essential attributes, alongside a logical and methodical way of working.
You will be required to work to your own initiative with clear priorities and work programmes established. You will have the flexibility to work from home or from any number of offices (when safe to do so).
What’s the role about
The focus of the role will be to act as the key point of contact for the P3M system in the Portfolio Office and be responsible for systems configuration, development, testing, training, support, and reporting.
You will ensure the integrity of the system, including data, to provide insight and assurance of the RSPBs projects and programmes.
You will also play a key role in the change management activities required to embed the system in the organisation
Key result areas for the role will include :
Lead developments in policies / procedures / standards / plans for the P3M system and occasionally represent the Portfolio Office on decision making and focus groups
Contribute to the configuration of the P3M System and coordinate the Change Management activities to ensure the system is embedded and adopted in the organisation
Lead the development of continuous improvement approaches / roadmaps for the P3M System
Lead employees & volunteers across the organisation in the application, techniques and use of the P3M system to enhance user's experience and deliver business objectives
Work with our Digital teams and the P3M System supplier to ensure that standards / guidance as well as strategy / priorities are developed in line with business need and industry trends to help shape future plans and roadmaps for the P3M system
Undertake detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis and interpretation of information to deliver efficiencies and value across our projects, programmes and portfolios
Contribute to the definition of and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, organisational policy & frameworks, and best practice standards within project, programme and portfolio methodologies
Assist with research and generating innovative ideas by building upon and improving existing approaches
Plan, define and allocate work and responsibilities to colleagues
Monitor and review the work of peers, contractors and external parties to deliver project / operational work and ensure quality standards and best practices are met

We need someone who is highly organised, self-motivated, has excellent attention to detail and can work to tight deadlines.
The role will involve working collaboratively with internal teams including senior managers, portfolio boards and leadership teams, ensuring they have relevant insight on projects, programmes and portfolios.
Candidates will be required to demonstrate experience of successfully managing systems to provide support, insight and assurance and experience in managing contracts and contractors.
Essential knowledge, skills and experience :
Thorough knowledge and understanding of work practices policies and procedures, relevant to supporting systems (particularly P3M systems)
Detailed operational knowledge of systems support and recognised by peers as an expert in this area.
Proven communication and interpersonal skills.
Analytical and problem solving capability.
The ability to work with others.
Ability to manage and control project expenditure in accordance with organisation policy and procedures, where appropriate.
Ability to demonstrate a full understanding of system operational requirements, including conceptualising and interpreting service requirements.
Systems configuration, development, delivering training, reporting
Experience of planning and progressing work activities according to strategic need
Proven analytical and specialism / discipline and related problem solving experience.
Experience of managing contracts and contractor management
Desirable skills, knowledge and experience :
Ability to demonstrate the leadership competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role.
Experience of personal development in a similar or related role(s).
