Job Description

The position is offered on a full-time or part-time basis, working alongside a team of friendly and dedicated professionals out of our modern offices next to Cambridge railway station.

With us you will be involved in a range of technical work including :

  • Catchment management permitting and nutrient balancing scheme design, cost benefit analysis and options appraisal;
  • Catchment management and nature-based solution planning, for example as part of water company water resource management plans;
  • Water quality modelling and analysis for river and lake waterbodies;
  • Nature-based solutions, such as wetland feasibility and design;
  • Hydro-ecology, natural capital and ecosystem services assessments;
  • Natural Flood Management scheme design and appraisal; and,
  • Stakeholder engagement and participatory catchment planning;

    Candidate Specification

    We welcome applications across consultant and senior levels. Our minimum candidate specification is as follows :

  • Professional experience in water quality or chemistry, nature-based solutions and catchment management;
  • Numerate, with evidence of skills and interest in data analysis and modelling;
  • Ability to technically lead and mentor junior staff;
  • Confident at engaging with stakeholders;
  • Excellent communication and written skills;
  • Well organised and able to prioritise your own workload;
  • Understand the importance of prioritising health, safety and environmental issues;
  • Masters level qualifications in chemistry, catchment management, environmental engineering or a related discipline;

    Due to continued growth across our award-winning, multi-sector and global business, we are now seeking a dedicated Environmental Hydrologist to join our growing team.

    You will have control of your own career path in cross-disciplinary engagement - our team delivers hydrological, catchment management, water quality and water resources appraisal and modelling services across the water and environmental sectors.

    We are proactively developing new approaches and services to respond to the national and global need for a green recovery and collaboration between sectors interfacing with the water environment.

    We are looking for someone with great team spirit to become an integral part of our group-wide Water Resources and Flooding Practice, which brings together a wealth of knowledge and experience in hydrology, hydrogeology, water quality, catchment management, climate resilience, nature-based solutions, flood risk, computational fluid dynamics and associated disciplines.

  • We have recently been successful on several large multi-year water quality and water resources frameworks and have a growing portfolio of projects designing nature-based solutions;
  • working within our dynamic Water Resources and Flooding Team, you will support clients on a range of high-profile projects.

    Specific projects that the role will contribute toward include :

  • Design and delivery of catchment nutrient balancing and permitting schemes for phosphorus-offsetting with water companies under the new flexible permitting approaches now being promoted by the Environment Agency;
  • Water quality investigations to understand the impact of wastewater assets on aquatic and coastal environments; and,
  • Feasibility and design of rural and urban nature-based solutions, such as wetlands and sustainable drainage systems, for water quality and water management.
