We’ve got a great new opportunity for a fixed term contract full-time technician to join the New Product Introduction and Process Technology (NPI-PT) team at our key manufacturing and new product introduction site in Barnard Castle.

All sterile products must be 100% inspected to ensure that they are free of particulate contamination, remain sterile during transport and storage, and are cosmetically free of defects.

The Inspection Lead must develop and validate machines that ensure these criteria so that the patient gets an efficacious and safe drug.

Therefore the impact of the role is broad and significant. There are huge implications in terms of how inspection technology keeps the business running to supply our patients but also it can have a huge impact in simplifying the business and creating value through continuous improvement.

Patient and consumer demand also means that inspection complexity is continually evolving and changing and thus in order for GSK to remain competitive and cost effective this role is pivotal to the site.

As a technician in the Automated inspection team, you will be part of our expanding Technical Team. In GMS the goal of the Technical function is to deliver scientific expertise to the manufacturing processes and technologies ensuring our new and existing products are in a constant state of control.

You will be part of the NPI-PT team at GSK’s Barnard Castle site. The team is critical to ensuring the site’s complex manufacturing processes are controlled and robust for all dose forms across a range of different pharmaceutical product streams.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Planning your own work to support the projects you are aligned to..
  • Supporting resolution of an issues relating to existing inspection processes, problem solving, troubleshooting and performing continuous improvement activities to reduce waste.
  • Supporting the delivery and controlling the validation status of the automated inspection processes for all sterile injectable products.
  • Working with other technical specialists and departments to deliver new products and processes to plan.
  • Delivering inspection and leak detection programs for new products

    Required Qualifications and experience :

  • Experience in science or engineering, or experience of inspection / leak detection equipment.
  • Experienced in the Pharmaceutical industry in leading technical projects, delivering change and ensuring compliance with cGMP.
  • Experience in writing documentation and approval through the CDMS process
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate internally at production operator to site director level and externally from vendor to regulatory auditor level.
  • Prior experience of equipment development an advantage
