The Utility Tracing Technician Role

At FM Conway we have great people delivering great work. As an industry leader, our business is growing as we are looking to recruit an experienced Utility Tracing Technician to join the team based out of our Sevenoaks and London locations.

The role of Utility Tracing Technician will be responsible for providing a professional utility scanning service to our Term Maintenance Division on sites across London and the South East.

Responsibilities of our Utility Tracing Technician

  • Access utility supplier websites to download the recorded information which relates to the site extents stipulated by the supervisor.
  • Respond to job requests for utility scans for the gangs on site, site safety packs (utility documents) and radar / full utility surveys.
  • Plan the appropriate course of action & quality control / checking of surveys to various queries from the supervisors.
  • Being in continuous contact with the existing utility tracing technicians, manager and wider team to discuss your plans with them and verify which works can be covered.
  • Plan cover for periods where members of staff go on holiday or when workloads are too large for the current workforce (subcontract work out).
  • Collate all of the jobs requested over the course of the month (excel costing spreadsheet) and monitor the charges applied to each site by contacting site surveyors (hour enquiries).
  • What we’re looking for in our Utility Tracing Technician

    We are seeking a candidate who has experience in all aspects of tracing, especially on the CAT 4 + and RD 8000-8100 (would be an advantage).

    Full training and funding will be given when required on any qualifications needed / qualification which need updating. Experience using Autocad, radar scanning and other experience relative to utility tracing role would be advantageous.

    A CSCS card, Street works or any other Highways related qualifications would also be an advantage.
