We have an opportunity for a Test Engineer to join us at Leonardo in Edinburgh. As a Test Engineer you will support the Radar department within our Operations function at our Radar and Targeting (RATs) Line of Business (Lob) This role will require shift working, which will include nights.
You will be involved in the testing and diagnostic analysis of 'cutting edge' avionic systems for a wide range of military & civilian aircraft.
These products include mechanically scanning radar systems (M-Scan) and active electronically scanning array (AESA) radar systems.

What you will do
Test & Fault diagnosis of complex Digital, RF & Microwave units in a high technology aerospace & defence manufacturing environment.
This will be broken down into the following :
Interpretation and adherence to test specifications.
Interpretation of technical drawings and circuit diagrams.
Fault diagnosis using diagnostic equipment e.g. Spectrum Analyser
Electrical Safety Testing
Product Acceptance Test Procedures
Vibration Testing (preferred)
Thermal Testing (preferred)
To identify and pursue solutions to shortcomings with respect to test equipment, test methods and test documentation.
Maintain effective and pro-active communication with Project, Quality and Engineering functions
To ensure standard handover procedure and effective communication is applied over all Radar product
Responsibility for designated SC21 / 5S areas to be completed in line with daily / weekly / monthly sign off sheets
You will work closely with Systems and Electronics engineers to solve real integration problems on complex systems
You may have opportunities to contribute towards the investigation and analysis of leading edge development methodologies and influence the future path of development within Leonardo
Most training will be delivered through on-the-job experience
What we are looking for
High level of dexterity
Good visual clarity
HND / Degree educated in system / electrical / RF engineering
Experience with SAP production systems (preferable)
Ability to work in an ISO class 9 clean room (requires dust over coat at all times)
Ability to work in engineering laboratory environment
Ability to work under pressure and / or tight timescales
Strong organisational skills
