Job Summary

The IT Asset Management (ITAM) Consultant’s role is to work with SHI’s customers to assist them in understanding their Software and Hardware Environment.

The ITAM Consultant will join the SHI ITAM team and will utilize SHI’s best practice procedures, tools and people to assist our customers in controlling their software and hardware costs, as well as the associated legal and financial risks.

The position reports to the ITAM Services Manager.

The ITAM Consultant can be office based from either Paris France or Milton Keynes UK offices. It is expected that this role will require regular travel both nationally and internationally (30%).

Role will consist of : Engage Sales, Licensing, Customers, and Software Manufacturers to help customers collect, organize, and manage customers’ licensed software assets.

  • Interact with SHI Licensing Executives and Software Manufacturers to understand licensing aspects.
  • Participate and lead peer reviews to oversee the ITAM Analyst, as well as secondary review to the ITAM Administrator activities, while ensuring the process and quality standards are maintained.
  • Quality check analysis of customers’ contract and purchase information by the ITAM Analyst and / or ITAM Administrator in order to maintain an accurate and complete summary of licenses.
  • Oversee the correct application of license rules to hardware and software inventory data to ensure it accurately reflects contractual entitlement.
  • Compare customers’ contractual entitlements against their utilization in order to assess gaps and surpluses in licensing, as well as offer consulting services as to the best practices to optimize their position in order to avoid unnecessary costs.

  • Offer consulting services as to the areas of convergence between software and hardware asset management, as well as best practices in how to concurrently manage both.
  • Advises customers as to the most cost-effective infrastructure configurations to deploy their software on, comparing both on-site datacenters and different types of cloud platforms.
  • Define the entitlement and inventory scope of customer ITAM data, in order to ensure entitlement and inventory information are properly aligned and consistent.
  • Prepare and present ITAM deliverables to customers.
  • Communicate accurate and relevant conclusions to customers across the entire life-cycle of a SAM project. Including producing and presenting analytical results and assuring projects get closed to the satisfaction of all parties.
  • Ensures all ITAM projects are conducted professionally, ethically, and in a manner consistent with SHI standard.
  • Keeps up to date with industry trends and new ITAM services requirements.

    Executes all ITAM Consultant tasks according to the project plans of all assigned customer engagements.

  • Adheres and works to the internal process standards as defines and updated by management.
  • Collects and manages ITAM-related information from SHI, customers, and software manufacturers.
  • Regularly ensures ITAM customers’ entitlement and contract data is correctly gathered and maintained (Entitlement Data).

  • Oversees analysis of purchase records and other entitlement information (including contracts, EULAs, EAs, PURs etc.).
  • Researches and understands Product Use Rights, license allowances, and contractual entitlements for software products and manufacturers (with a specialty in one or more manufacturers).
  • Monitors that the Load / Import / Enter Entitlement Data into SHI’s ITAM Tool has been performed according to standards and accurately reflects owned software licenses.
  • Assists the ITAM Systems Technicians and Engineers in the collection, cleanse / normalization, and management of software discovery and inventory information in order to ensure all licensing relevant data points are being collected.
  • Defines the entitlement and inventory scope of customers’ ITAM data to assure entitlement and inventory information are properly aligned and consistent.
  • Researches and understands different publishers’ product use rights, license allowances, and contractual entitlements for software products and manufacturers.
  • Collects and manages ITAM-related information from SHI, customers, and software manufacturers.
  • Prepares and presents ITAM deliverables to customers.
  • Participates in customer communications across the entire life-cycle of an ITAM project; this includes presenting intermediate and final results and assuring projects are conducted and closed to the satisfaction of all parties.

  • Participates and leads peer reviews to oversee license analyst activities while ensuring the process and quality standards are maintained.
  • Participates alongside with ITAM Solutions Consultants in pre-sales activities to advise customers and inform of SHI’s ITAM capabilities.
  • Attend and support SHI events and vendor shows
  • Designs specialist blog articles, webinars, industry events presentations
  • Engage with governance board and participate in ITAM sub-committees in order to create and document specifications that will improve existing services, as well as create new ones.

  • Coordinate with service delivery teams in order to communicate project status and ensure project milestones are being met.
  • Other activities, as defined by ITAM management to successfully deliver ITAM consulting activities to customers.
  • Qualifications

    Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred as well as a minimum of 3 years of experience within the IT Asset Management field.
